TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Monday updates

The east-facing camera on the West Seattle Bridge is back after some downtime; so are a few others, as you can see on the WSB Traffic page.

No new road work or other alerts so far, but we have two notes:

WEST SEATTLE TRANSPORTATION COALITION NEEDS YOU! The new group launched a manifesto of sorts over the weekend, with the letter it’s sending to local/regional leaders challenging them to join in solving West Seattle’s transportation challenges. You’re invited to sign on by contacting the WSTC (that link also will show you a survey they’re using to shape priorities).

SPEAKING OF TRANSPORTATION ADVOCACY … there’s still that matter of no transportation-funding measure from the State Legislature, with problems looming including cuts in bus service, and if you have something to say to legislators, there’s a special meeting downtown, 6-9 pm, details here.

ADDED 11:22 AM: From Washington State Ferries:

Beginning later this afternoon, the 87-car Klahowya returns to service and will replace the 90-car Sealth. The galley on the Sealth will close today at noon in preparation for the boat move. The galley on the Klahowya will open on Tuesday, 10/15, at 2 pm.

    Hey Tracy,

Have you heard anything about what looks to be pending road working on the eastbound side of the spokane viaduct? The surface has been sinking and cracking in a few places over the last couple weeks and this morning I noticed that there where white paint lines surrounding the damage.

    Cheers.

It looks like it’s bond between the new road surface and the existing structure. The same areas that they were cutting up and re-doing right after construction was first done. It’s most noticeable right after the 1st ave exit but does continue down towards 4th.

Between 8:30 and 9:00 am the eastbound bridge traffic was moving at a crawl. Finally came upon a silver car that had a smashed front end blocking the left lane. There were no emergency vehicles or tow trucks there, hope the driver is OK.

WB – there was no 911 callout, medic/fire, for anything on the bridge, which indicates no injuries, at least of note .. TR

I was stuck in that same traffic at 8:45 and saw that the silver mustang had pretty significant front end damage. There was no other damaged vehicle in sight, which I thought was odd because it did not look like it could be a single car accident. In any case, I hope the driver is okay.

Sorry, comment time is over.
