One year after the snowstorm: A special, public ‘thank you’

(WSB’er photo shared November 22, 2010)
The anniversary seemed to pass unnoticed – maybe because we’re dealing with different weather woes at the moment. Tonight marked exactly a year since the November 2010 snowstorm that snarled the evening commute. Roads were impassable, buses got stuck, some folks wound up walking – like the person who posted this today in the WSB Forums:

One year ago today I was walking up West Marginal Way in the snowstorm and woke up in an ambulance. Apparently in the meantime some people had given me about ten minutes of CPR and a defibrillator shock. Quite the anonymous gift, a pulse. Whoever you were, I made it through the night and am doing fine a year later. Thanks.

We don’t recall hearing about that at the time; the archived 911 log for that day/night includes more than 1 incident on West Marginal Way SW, so we’re not sure when or exactly where it happened.

I was driving in my car that night and was shaken up when I saw someone (it must have been you!) being given CPR on the sidewalk in the snowstorm. I remember feeling so sad assuming you hadn’t made it. How wonderful to read this entry and find out you’re ok!

Good to hear you are doing well! I had/have the AED in my car. Happy I was in the right place, at the right time, with the right equipment and the right training. Do I always carry an AED? Yes. I drive about 4k miles a month all over the state and my wife has a heart condition. I was taught never take a knife to a gun fight. Happy Holidays.

Absolutely spectacular! Being present while you were on the side of the road in a snow bank during the storm of the century and having you gasp a breath telling me your name after 20 minutes of CPR, buddy breathing and being shocked multiple times! A perfect and extraordinary combination of events coupled with all those lovely caring individuals,(angels), around you hanging on every moment of your life while it was slipping away with snow flakes falling quietly on your face is an image that will remain with me for as long as I draw breath. Indeed you are a miracle and a miracle that is persistently manifesting itself. Perhaps we will grasp hands one day and share another moment of life! I look forward to this with much anticipation. Merry Christmas dear sir!

Sorry, comment time is over.
