New play equipment almost ready at ex-Denny site

Thanks to Val for these photos of the new play area on the southeast side of the former site of Denny International Middle School (30th/Cloverdale).

We last showed it as a work-in-progress a month ago. As BNBuildersRiver Steenson reiterated in a comment following our last update, it’s expected to be completed within a month, and Val says the crew at the scene thought it would be open within a few weeks (we’ll make a formal inquiry next week). This site, which also includes a softball field and tennis courts, remains under school district ownership/management, and as such will not be considered an official “park,” nor will it be named, the district has said.

Thanks for the update. I am sure my son will be one of the first over there playing. Any idea if there are plans to add additional play equipment adjacent to what has already been installed? The pictures don’t really show it but there is a lot of open space in the bark chip area. It is just calling out for some swings.

i’ve heard December 1 opening except for the freshly seeded large grass space facing 30th ave sw. It will remain fenced to protect the young grass.

As mentioned previously, Final Completion per the contract isn’t until the end of December. Regarding the question about the play equipment, what is installed currently is the final configuration.

Sorry, comment time is over.
