From the WSB Pets page: August the Weimeraner, out there somewhere

After almost 3 1/2 years of having a lost/found Pets page on WSB, we’ve noticed that often, lost dogs are reunited with their owners fairly quickly. Then sometimes, there are the elusive ones – with multiple sightings – and the community keeps an eye out, and after a team effort, there’s a reunion. Seems like that might need to happen for August the Weimaraner. Josh sent word late yesterday about August bolting in Gatewood. Since then, there have been multiple sightings, Josh says – most recently, he just e-mailed to say, “August was last seen tonight around 7:30pm around Fauntleroy ferry. Please keep an eye out. He is very scared. Thank you!” If you see August, Josh’s phone number is on the Pets page.

Is he easily lurable?Like by calling his name or giving him a treat?

Sorry to hear such a beautiful dog has bolted.

Can August be identified by collar, name, or license tag?

With hopes for a quick and safe return.

he wasn’t wearing his collar, apparently. I will send Josh the link to this post in case sightings appear – I understand people have been calling him to report them, so far, since the Pets page isn’t ‘interactive’ – TR

Oh, no! We saw him tonight at 6:30pm coming up the hill off Brace Point area crossing Roxbury. We thought it was odd that he was wandering around without anyone with him and we were hoping he lived nearby. Beautiful dog. I just got an email about this from a friend. Glad I now have a phone number and name of the dog.

I run in the area he was spotted last night–around 8th and Roxbury–and kept an eye out for him this morning, but didn’t see him. Looks like he’s been roaming around quite a lot.

We bred him up here in Vancouver, BC. August has a microchip, so he can be ID’ed at any vet or ASPCA. He is raw fed, so a piece of raw chicken in a yard, then close the gate would be ideal. He is kid-friendly, but be aware that he’s scared and may act oddly.

He is very lovable and would usually come up and say hi but like Dave said, he is very scared. He barely knows what to do with himself when I’m not around. A neighbor let him out of my daughter’s place on Sunday afternoon to pee and that’s when he bolted.

Don’t chase him, whatever you do, that will probably freak him out more. Bribery with treats and food should work.

You can call me immediately at 206-856-5860 if you spot him. Try and follow him until I arrive.

West Seattle residents are awesome! Thanx sonmuch for all the help so far!!!

This is why it’s always a good idea to keep an extra collar and leash in your car along with a bag of treats in case you see dogs loose on the street. I’ve returned quite a few to owners that way, half the time the owners didn’t even know their dog escaped. I will keep my eyes peeled for August and I pray that he is returned safely to his family.

An hour ago I saw a skittish dog of this description with a light/medium green collar. Not a heavy-duty harness like shown in the picture, but a simple one going around the neck. Same dog? Let me know and I can give location…. thanks. Respond via post to this blog.
