West Seattle restaurant news: Brickyard expected to open Wed.

(WSB photos by Christopher Boffoli)
The Admiral District’s next new restaurant is days away from opening: 4 months after first word that Brickyard BBQ was moving into space just south of Admiral Pub (map), WSB Forum members have been wondering when they’ll open. So Christopher Boffoli stopped by this afternoon on behalf of WSB to check, and reports that this Wednesday (August 26) is expected to be its official opening day. He reports that the activity spotted there in recent days has been “soft opening” activity for friends and family, as is traditional in the restaurant business. For our last report in late July, the owners told us they’d be serving Texas-style barbecue, likely 11 am-10 pm.

Did the city really approve the exhaust they installed hanging out over the roof?! It looks awful. I love having a new eatery in the neighborhood, but hate to see something like this that looks so bad. With the exhaust next to Admiral Pub’s giant satellite dish, that part of the street/sidewalk is looking a little junky.

Actually, I think that shiny aluminum gantry is kind of interesting, as are the bent re-bar fences and gates. Sort of goes along with the post-industrial look they’ve got got going on there. A little bit of Thunderdome in the Admiral district :-)

Their neighbors’ massive satellite dish offends me more. I wonder how people managed to drink in bars back in the days before everyone felt the need to have massive televisions playing 24/7 sports.

That is a great idea! An outdoor restaurant in Seattle. Why has no one thought of that before… oh yeah, because it rains 9 months out of the year.

Can’t wait to try their BBQ. We need good BBQ in West Seattle.

I walked by the place on Saturday night and there were people eating and drinking around 9 pm so I thought it was already open. Must have been a private bash to kick things off? Can’t wait for the public opening! A perfect addition to the neighborhood.

Frank, methinks that there’s indoor seating, too…

JanS: You’re absolutely right. There is. Not a whole lot of it though.

Don’t forget about OK Corral! The “Hook Up” will feed two adults and a kid for dinner at $15, I swear it weighed 5 pounds!

Of course, I’ll try this place as well…love me some good BBQ. Plus, OK Corral is really more for take out, not a “night out.”

Bummer, we drove from Issaquah to W. Seattle on Wednesday just for the BBQ. Saw several workers eating their lunches, and lots of tools, but no open restaurant yet.

Had dinner and drinks there tonight and we were quite happy with the food. The pulled pork was good and the pea salad was really nice. We look forward to being regulars.

Sorry, comment time is over.
