Final West Seattle back-to-school day: Hope Lutheran

hopelutheranconstruction.jpg

As Bil Hood puts it, “The building may not look finished, but school began tonight for Hope Lutheran School. Parents and students met with teachers tonight for a back-to-school BBQ.” Bil sent the photo above, plus this one from tonight’s event:

He adds: “Most classrooms are finished and ready to go. A few classes will be in alternate accomodations until next month. Regular classes begin tomorrow.” Project progress is being chronicled on the Hope Lutheran website: HopeSeattle.org. (We reported on the groundbreaking for the church/school project that’s under way – along with 2 others nearby – see that report here.)

That’s great that the kids got a few extra days of summer, likely the nicest stretch of decent days since school let out! And to think, no one had to go on strike to get those extra days :-)

Also, is it just me or does the second photo make the renovations look like they just gutted the entire inside (including the removal of the second floor)of the existing building and made it into one big gymnasium/stage/hall thingy?

Is that the direction schools are heading to these days, sort of a multi-purpose/open-concept type of setting?

That’s cool though, I think it looks good.

Does anyone know how long Hope has been around?

The 2nd picture is from the gym at Seattle Lutheran High School. They were kind enough to let Hope use the facility for the orientation.

Thanks! We get news from Bil re: both schools so certainly no slight was intended, but we always welcome additional details.

Well that explains a lot. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for posting that clarification Deb. Yes, the 2nd picture is from Seattle Lutheran as they have been very supportive to both Church and School, especially during this construction project.

Hope School as been around for 49 years and Hope Church 90! Here is a link to the full history: http://hopeseattle.org/church/history.html
