What's with all the honking after midnight?

Overzealous ferry boat captain? Stuck fog horn? Collision alert?

The sound is really carrying this morning! Gotta be annoying closer to the water. Are boat horns something you just get used to living close to the dock? Like living with the noise of a freeway?

Funny, if it’s the ferry we would usually hear it since we’re just up the hill. TV’s too loud, as is the poor MacBook’s fan (time to close some windows) …

I also enjoy the sounds of the boats. Alternately I find freeways obscene.

since we moved inland.. i miss the sounds from boat traffic more than the view..

i seldom hear the ferry any more

but sometimes i hear the harbor

and the trains

Boat horns are used for navigational purposes and it was foggy in the early am hours. I love hearing them as well as the trains – miss hearing Nobska Point lighthouse foghorn from my Cape Cod home so these are the next best thing!

It did sound like it was moving south so then I figured it was probably a container ship headed down to Tacoma letting everyone know where he was!
