LalkaMemberHello,
Where are the best places for good quality used clothing and shoes in the area?
For kids: I like smallclothes a lot, but my child is now too tall. Other ideas?
For men: ?
For women: Please recommend places other than Funky (Unfriendly) Jane’s.
Happy to venture outside of West Seattle for a great store.

flowerpetalMemberI always stop at Many Moons when I am in that block of the junction. They are near the liguor store in the junction and always have a sign posted when they are open. It is a small space and therefor limited; more women’s clothes than others.
For me, if I am serious shopping for second hand clothes, I go to the “big box” used clothing stores. That is, Goodwill on Dearborn and Value Village in Burien. Both are an easy drive from West Seattle. I have found some high end clothes at both including Brooks Bros., Hickey Freeman sports coats, two raw silk jackets from Smith and Hawken; and other treasures. We do alot of sewing and crafting at our house so we always look at yardage too; and wool sweaters and scarves for felting. I could go on!

JoBParticipantIf you are skinny.. the one up by the post office on California has some nice things… not so much for those of us who are more “traditionally” built.
And i can second the recommendation for the Goodwill on Dearborn.
if you feel like an adventure and are looking for higher end clothing.. there is a resale shop on Bainbridge.. left off the ferry and on the left just as you are entering town.

WSMomParticipantTry Frienze (not sure of the spelling) in Burien. I found really cute shorts and t-shirts for one dollar each just yesterday. Also, Many Moons is another excellent spot to check out.

goodgracesParticipantLollipops in Burien has awesome clothes for kids and women! The owner, Susan, is terrific. I take lots of clothes there and always end up taking just as many other ones home.

kiridaParticipantI really love the Value Village 50% off sales. They just had one on Memorial Day, but if you sign up for their e-newsletter, you’ll be alerted when the next one rolls around. I get the majority of my toddler’s clothing during these sales, but you have to get there early.
For great women’s clothing, check out Buffalo Exchange in the U-District. I have always found great clothes there. There are other wonderful thrift shops on the Ave like the new Goodwill, Red Light and Crossroads.

ZenguyParticipantOn Capitol Hill, Le Frock has some great used clothes presented in a fun way that makes you want to go on a hunt for threasures. They do have men’s and women’s clothes regardless of the name.
Happy Hunting.

TraciMemberI’ve had ZERO luck with thrift/secondhand shops in WS, just not my style. I think it’s worth the drive to hit up Crossroads & The Red Light on Broadway, or Buffalo Exchange & The Red Light in the U District.
….Even then I find myself leaving with Aprie and UO bags instead. Talk about poor willpower!
There is Pepper on Alki, if you haven’t tried it you should. Very interesting place. A little overwhelming and the prices vary a TON (like from 5 to 500 bucks per garment). Give yourself a solid hour for it.
