Under the ‘about’ tab, we have listed resources/links on how to find lost pets. Missing Pet Partnership is one of the links and has some great info on kitties. We know several people that have utilized their methods and found their cats (and dogs).

So do not understand why someone would claim someone else’s cat as their own without checking to see if they were micro chipped really sad that we had to go threw the stress of trying to find her

mehud7ParticipantNichelle, I am glad that your cat was found. As far as someone claiming her to be their own and not having her scanned for a chip, why would they do that if they thought she was theirs and they had not chipped their cat? I would suggest a collar in addition to a chip. Better yet, there would be no chance of anyone picking her up thinking she was theirs if she were indoor only.

SueParticipantNichelle, on your question about keeping a cat w/o checking for a microchip – we found a stray 9 years ago went unclaimed after a week of looking for an owner and decided to keep him. It never once occurred to me to look for a microchip because none of our pets were ever microchipped. It’s just not something that I ever thought about. Unless the first vet scanned for one without saying anything, we’ve never, ever checked for one. So it’s not necessarily malicious that someone would do that – just may not have thought to do it. I agree with the collar suggestion too. Had my found cat had a collar, I certainly would’ve thought to call the owner. He has a collar now with contact info, even though he’s an indoor cat – never know what might happen.
