VVTParticipantI’ve noticed a sharp increase in the presence of tents, cars, and RVs collecting under the east side of the WS Bridge near Spokane st. There have always been a few tents or RVs there since I started commuting from WS to SODO in 2013, but the growth of temporary dwellings appears to have spiked. Is this partially a result of evictions from “The Jungle” in recent weeks?

R0b0ParticipantI hope word of the coming storms has made it to those stuck outdoors. I’d be hunkering down under as much concrete as I could find too. All those empty hanjin containers with nowhere to go. Could the city open a hundred up for people to ride out the storm? Even the best tents will deform if not blow over in 20 mph wind.

JoBParticipantRObO.. i worry about the people camping in our green spaces..
it’s not just those who won’t leave a loved one in a single sex shelter or who have pets that don’t have access to proper shelter in these storms.. it’s anyone who doesn’t want to lose everything they own … it may look like much to us, but their survival depends upon it.October 14, 2016 at 8:53 am #860906
sbreParticipantAs a daily bike commuter from Admiral area to South Park along Harbor Ave and W. Marginal Way I have seen a HUGE increase in vehicles from cars to RV’s that are obviously lived-in, as well as those who camp in the thickets that border those miles of roads.
Additionally, the amount of ‘stuff’ has grown too! Lots and lots of garbage, cloths, household items, and who knows what else has began piling-up.
I can only imagine what it must be like to live out there under normal circumstances before adding all this wind, rain and run-off to the mix.
