WSBKeymasterHa, I came home from covering the 34th District Democrats’ meeting, while the other 2/3 of Team WSB were at the Ginomai viewing party, and it was just in time for me to catch the last five minutes. I saw he was in the final six … then the final two … whew, close call. Going to have to look for a rerun to see what I missed in the preceding 50 minutes … TR

JoBParticipantHis designs are consistently solid…
here’s hoping he learns to listen more to what the his brief is.
they want a designer with a point of view.. but also one that can handle a wide variety of challenges…
i think his integrity saved him this time.

cjboffoliParticipantI’m still boggled by the fact that Blayne had no idea what Sgt. Pepper was on last week’s episode.

JanSParticipantchristopher, I’m with you. My daughter is only 27, not much older than Blayne, and I can guarantee you that she knows just about every song that came out of the Beatles. Her father was/is a music freak, and introduced her to many, many things at an early age.

cjboffoliParticipantYeah, I guess they didn’t get the Beatles out in Yakima where Blayne is from.

JoBParticipantsome of us have reached an age where we are really noticing the knowledge gap…
you know that thing Timm Gunn keeps bumping into with Blayne…
but i have to confess, it goes two ways. it’s amazing what i find i don’t know when i am talking with my grandkids…
they treat me like a sweet old doddering thing some times.. ME..
I think i may remember this same thing from my earlier years. i wonder what i missed because i wasn’t smart enough to figure out there were really cool things i didn’t know yet:)
i think Blayne is probably like a lot of young people these days.. they know a great deal about what interests them, but very little about history .. even the history of the fields they are passionate about.
I am sure we weren’t like that ;~>

charlabobParticipantJoB, it’s hard to keep up and I’m nowhere near hip and happening and now, but I’m surprised how much current culture I know (and even like.)
Blayne seems to me kind of out of place in all cultures — maybe a class thing? I love him to bits, and his “designs” are growing on me, but the other designers seem as bemused by him as the grown-ups are. I just figured he was confusing Sergeant and Wendy Pepper. :-)
Going off to start a new thread about generational cultural obsolescence.

ZenguyParticipantI think his ideas are good, obviously so did Brook Shields or she would not have picked him as one of the designers. I think the problem for me was the execution. The shorts made the model look hippy (imagine what they would do to a real woman with hips), they made her thighs look like sausanges and the crotch was bulging. The rest of the look just came off sloppy. I really want to cheer for him, but I am finding it increasingly difficult.

charlabobParticipantI know what you mean, ZG — the garments are auctioned off by Bravo and Blayne’s outfit is supposed to be somewhere between size 0 and 2. How you make someone that size look buldgey is beyond me!
August 15, 2008 at 1:05 am #634152
JoBParticipanti didn’t know the outfits were auctioned off.. not that i am ever going to be a size that could wear one…
ok.. maybe next week with the cross dressers.. but i just can’t think where i would wear that kind of outfit:)

addParticipantI’m a recent PR watcher (thanks to my 10 yo daughter!), so I don’t have a lot of opinions quite yet, but I did think it was kinda funny that Brooke Shields called Blayne “bratty” during the judge’s debrief session.
