Hatred has been normalized in our society in recent years. All too much hatred is visible in our streets, in our public life, and in our crime statistics, especially in data on hate crimes. Anti-Hate Alaska Junction works to reduce hate in our neighborhoods by offering in-person Bystander Intervention Workshops. These workshops help participants learn how to intervene SAFELY and EFFECTIVELY when a hate-based incident happens.

Based on concepts from brain science and Theater of the Oppressed, participants sketch out and run scenarios of hate-filled interactions, taking the role of aggressor, target or bystander. Participants not working in the current scenario track whether emotions and danger are escalating or reducing. You CAN make a difference!

The next local West Seattle Bystander Intervention Workshop will be on Sunday, April 24, from 1 – 4 PM, at Admiral UCC Church, 4320 SW Hill Street, Seattle
