The creative proprietors of Clementine have not only beautified The Junction by their mere presence, but also have joined the Junction Association Beautification Committee, and one of its current projects is to replace those somewhat dated banners (example at right) trumpeting the shopping district’s free-parking zones. (An endangered species around the city, apparently.) And they’ve put out a call for design proposals for the new banner. Deadline is May 31. Request for Design Proposal

Calling on West Seattle artists and graphic designers to submit a design proposal for decorative street banners. If chosen, all rights to the design will be owned by the West Seattle Junction Association and may be altered to fit existing design requirements. There will be no monetary compensation for the design, but the winning designer will be recognized in the West Seattle Junction Association Newsletter and will have the satisfaction of contributing art to your community!

Description of Project: Seeking graphic design for use on decorative street banners that incorporate key elements of West Seattle Junction visual promotion and marketing. The design should reflect a unique aspect of this West Seattle neighborhood. Key colors include orange, blue and green. Some of the banners will be used to direct drivers to the free parking lots by stating “Free parking” accompanied by an arrow. The banners will be approximately 3′ wide by 6′ long.

Time line and Selection: All submissions must include 3 full-color copies on 8″ by 11″ paper, delivered or mailed to the West Seattle Junction Association at 2810 SW Oregon Street , Seattle, WA 98116 , by May 31, 2007. Questions to wsja@wsjunction.com.
