As we reminded in today’s traffic-watch report, tomorrow’s the launch meeting for the West Seattle Transit Coalition, a grass-roots-born peninsula-wide voice to advocate for this area’s needs in a time of development, redevelopment, and other changes. Organizers have just shared the agenda, and in case you were worried about it being a “sit down and listen” type of meeting, this might reassure you that you’ll have a voice – read on:
– Introductions and Background on the formation of the Coalition.
– What are the goals of this meeting? One immediate goal is to find funding for the current Metro routes, and prevent the proposed 2014 cuts. Additionally, find a way to sustain West Seattle transit and improve overall transit service to the peninsula.
– Slide Presentation
– Transit Challenges – Community Group Rep{s} will address the group with additional transit challenges.
– Open the floor for additional challenges that people are seeing with Transit not mentioned by the Group Reps.
– Solutions to Get to our Goals – Community Group Rep{s} will address the group with potential transit Solutions.
– Open the floor for additional solutions that were not mentioned by the Group Reps.
– Discuss long term goals, and what form the West Seattle Transit Coalition should take after this meeting. Do we only call it in emergencies? Do we make it a permanent advocacy group for the peninsula? Elect a Board?
Again, all are welcome to help form the West Seattle Transit Coalition, tomorrow (Tuesday) night at the Neighborhood House High Point Center (6400 Sylvan Way), 6:30 pm.
