35th closure

Huge thanks to several WSB readers who e-mailed us at this late hour to tell us about 35th being blocked off near the High Point Library. According to LyndaB, the problem apparently has something to do with a dangerously leaning power pole she had noticed earlier in the day; City Light’s on scene as well as police.

So that’s what all the noise was, well into the night. Crews were out there making double-overtime way past 2am correcting the problem. Lots of noisy machinery; traffic re-routed onto 36th S.W.
…and I thought somebody had gotten shot in the ‘hood.
Thanks for the info, LyndaB, and putting my mind at rest.
35th is open and clear this morning…

I actually had the same thought that someone was shot, too. Of course, that was until I spied a City Light van. I immediately thought of that lightpole. They have replaced that lightpole and the leaning one is lying on the ground. R.I.P. #5904!

Last night’s police dispatchers reported it as a “standing water in the roadway” problem. Perhaps that report was corrected later after I drifted off to sleep…..

Sorry, comment time is over.
