We heard it directly overhead on Trenton and Delridge SW too. Very low flying. We’d love to learn what it was up to! Thanks WSB!

It was seriously low, I thought it was landing. I have never seen a helicopter that low except to land. It was blue and white and I didn’t really see any markings on it. There was no equipment hanging from the bottom like a light or camera either. I saw it over Delridge maybe 18th between Barton and Henderson.

I’m at 20th and Cambridge and saw it too. This same helicopter was flying low in the area two days ago as well. What’s the deal?
Comment by Jeff — 10:46 am October 22, 2010 #
I saw it yesterday it was standing still on 17th ave sw.
And today as well same place.
what is going on?
Comment by Maria — 10:49 am October 22, 2010 #
If anybody can grab the N-number off of it, you can look it up on the FAA’s website or FlightAware.com. Those resources might yield some clues. At a minimum, they’ll let you know who owns the chopper.

Odd, ’cause it was right over the police station when I was heading down Delridge this a.m. Low enough to be kicking up quite a wind below it, whipping around trees and dust and such, and pretty distracting, as well.

I heard it this morning too…might have been by the police station but I could have swore it was landing behind the daycare I work at. Which is more close to willow not orchard. I wish I could have gone out to see…

So, any word??? Heard from neighbours that it was so low… right above houses on Delridge and Cloverdale… shook houses and stirred up dirt and leaves.
Comment by Dee — 2:40 pm October 22, 2010 #
Sadly, no. I left a message at one company that purportedly has a blue/white chopper. No reply so far.
Comment by WSB — 2:50 pm October 22, 2010 #
Any details you can post here might be helpful…. colors might be helpful later, but for now to determine the type things like the number of blades on the rotor (2-5 are the most common) and whether or not it had a tail rotor, an in-tail fan, or no apparent tail rotor at all. For example, right now Airlift Northwest is operating Augusta and Eurocopter aircraft… both have four bladed rotor systems, but the Augusta has a tail rotor and the Eurocopter an in-tail fan (trademarked name “Fenestron”).
None of their helicopters are blue and white, I’m just using that to demonstrate how we can narrow down type, which migh thelp us determine the operator.
The N-number on the side or tail boom would be the most helpful, as mentioned above.
Comment by Tracy White — 3:15 pm October 22, 2010 #
well it had a standard external tail rotor. There was nothing really distinct about it.
It looked pretty similar to this, except there was no light at the bottom.
Comment by mike03 — 3:57 pm October 22, 2010 #
Looks like the link got spam blocked. The wikipedia page for a helicopter has a picture of a LAPD Bell 206, thats the most similar picture I’ve found.

Any reports of cattle abductions recently?
Comment by Leroniusmonkfish — 3:17 am October 23, 2010 #
Never mind cattle abductions, it would be news just to have a cattle SIGHTING in West Seattle. Anywhere. Goats, yes, chickens, yes, but that’s about where it tends to stop. Meantime, still no further light shone on the mysterious chopper … if anyone sees it next week, even if you don’t have a camera, call us ASAP and we’ll do our best to rush over (the 24/7 news line, 206-293-6302) … as has been noted, the # would likely solve the mystery … TR
