helihuParticipantI found a two year old thread with recommendations for Budget Blinds and the Hunter Douglas blind seller at Costco. I’m interested in any more recent feedback about either place or alternatives.
Thanks!

CarsonParticipantWe called Costco to get a quote on Hunter Douglass blinds. The woman who came out couldn’t have been more uninterested. We actually had to hound her to even get a quote. We called http://www.window-wares.com/ and the guy came right out, gave us a quote. By that time the Costco quote came in and the window ware quote was actually a little lower. We went with Window Wares, fast and easy. They made a mistake on the order and fixed it with little pressure. I have tried Costco on both window blinds, garage doors and quartz counter tops. In all 3 instances I have either found better pricing, or better quality elsewhere.

clairdesolParticipantI have been using 3 Day Blinds for decades, and still find their products the most to my liking. Unfortunately they seem to have shut down their stores and rely completely on in-home consulting for their orders, and they seem expensive. Also, their installation people last time were really rude. So call up, make an appointment and see how it goes for you. I also use Home Depot when I know the measurements and want to install it myself, save lots of money that way, but you have to know what you’re doing. I have been in to Budget in W Seattle, and they seemed pricey so I did not buy. They have a nice showroom. Maybe I’ll try them again sometime when I need help in selection and installation.

KimberleyParticipantCarson’s experience with Costco mirrors my own (and we had a second Costco consultant come out). I had a fantastic experience with budget blinds, here’s my yelp.com review: http://www.yelp.com/biz/budget-blinds-of-west-seattle-seattle-2

WSBKeymasterJust a note for those interested in supporting WSB sponsors, that Budget Blinds is a sponsor. We will check them out personally if our blinds ever go bad … I don’t think they existed when we bought the house 17 years ago, and we’re still running on the same mall-bought blinds! Good luck with your quest.

mav0414Participantnot in West Seattle but for great service and great quality products, I recommend Snider Burien Draperies on Sw 152nd street.
they did our West Seattle Gatewood home with the best Hunter Douglas has to offer.
the old adage applies for window coverings…you get what you pay for.

raminoParticipantWe had our entire new house decorated with Hunter Douglas blinds by “Lasting Impressions.” They are wonderful to work with and have VERY competitive prices. You can tell them that Jim and Lou Ann (in West Seattle) referred you. The owners do the actual installation and everything is done in a very professional manner. They do exactly what they promise to do. Our best experience ever. Call Maryanne at 253-531-5829.

i just had budget blind put in 5 blinds in my house and they are just what i expected. Previously i went to Rodda and provided the measurements and did the install myself. Budget came out to the house, did the measuring and came back to do the install – very neatly i might add. plus there is typically a 25% off coupon in those books we get in the mail.

inactiveMemberPenny’s has mega sales on window coverings periodically, during fall/winter – up to 70% off during fall/winter often. I got my levlors last year there at 70% off. Not cheap, but definitely cheaper.

DianeParticipantif you want to install your own, I worked in Fred Meyer Home Dept last holiday season, and they have great selection of inexpensive blinds, and just about anything else you might want for your home, all in 1 trip, including food shopping; I love Fred Meyer, just wish we had one in West Seattle; I worked at Ballard store; Burien is a bit closer

last year I learned way too much about how Home Depot treats its employees, that I will never give them any more of my money

Fred Meyer treats its employees very well

DianaParticipantIt really depends on what you need, i.e., high end, just functional, long term investment, etc. Sometimes mix and match works swell so you can save in some areas then invest in areas that are really important. When I did a 1923 Craftsman restoration this was my approach. For the high end, long term investment I chose Budget Blinds and I could not have been happier. Very good selection, super professional, great quality. For the “cheater” blinds I did quite well with Home Depot, Junction True Value, and Pier 1. Never left West Seattle and was thrilled with all!

redblackParticipanti will echo kimberley’s recommendation: budget blinds are very pro, and they carry hunter/douglas products.
their sales reps are thorough and very responsive to your wants and needs. want to know about warranty? have a west-facing window? got pets and kids and are worried about cleaning your new blinds? they’ll tell you straight up.
we just placed a huge order with them and are very happy with their presentation, products, and installation.
four-out-of-five stars. “a little pricey” keeps them from getting five-for-five, but that all depends on what products you want installed.

SomeGuyParticipantAnother vote for Budget Blinds. We had them do quite a few new blinds for us about 12 months ago and they were great. Very professional, the installer was terrific. They even gave us a few extra pieces as spares in case they break or get dirty or whatever (three little hooligans underfoot).

anonymeParticipantSome friends of mine used Budget and they were very pleased with the price, product, and service. I ordered mine from Select Blinds online. They were cheaply made, defective (warped frame), and the strings broke within a year. They replaced the string with even cheaper string, but only after a struggle. I would not recommend them to anyone.

LuckieParticipantBudget Blinds! We were so happy with the selection, service, and quality. Plus, they are right here in W. Seattle.
