I just wanted to let anyone else that might be interested in learning to sew know about a class I signed up for with the Southwest Community Center. I have always wanted to learn just the basics – mainly how to hem my own pants. There are only a few people signed up for the class, but I am guessing it is because a lot of people don’t know about it. We have only had the first class last night where we covered handouts and materials needed, so it is not too late to sign up. We have about 8 projects we can learn to make in class. I am making a pillowcase and a super cute skirt (like this one) http://stitchingpink.blogspot.com/2008/06/flirty-skirts.html for my daughter. The class is on Mondays from 6:30-8:30. You need to bring a sewing machine and you can sign up at the community center. They should be able to put you in touch with the teacher, Jan, so she can get you a material and project list before class next Monday.
