More details on Friday night Admiral incident

Apparently there’s been at least one tv report on this tonight, though we can’t find anything online; it reportedly further confirms the info we shared Friday night that an assault was the reason for the air and ground search in the Admiral area – and according to two other unofficial reports we have, the victim, who was out walking her dog, did not know her attacker. She’s recovering; we will add any links we can find on tonight’s coverage if they’re posted, and we’re hoping to get the police report on this in the morning. 11:07 PM ADDENDUM: According to the channel 5 report (still not online), the victim says the attacker was trying to steal her purebred Siberian Husky; she told the station that police may have a suspect in custody after a “similar attack,” and more info should definitely be available tomorrow.

Thanks for the update. Scary to think that people are trying to STEAL others dogs. Lets hope they do catch the suspect in this case. Also I would like to give a big Thank You to the police who came to Mee Kwa Mooks park. It is really annoying to constantly be picking up beer bottles and paiting over graffitt becuase some kids just want to have fun. So thank you to the police for finally doing something about it on Sunday night!

REALLY? This brought out a helicopter?? Don’t get me wrong…it was a terrible thing; glad the woman is okay, and I definitely hold her dog in higher regard than a handbag, but would a helicopter have come out for a similarly violent purse-snatching? The recent incident behind Husky/Mashiko comes to mind, for one. Just seems odd to me.

GenHillOne, the helicopter will respond any time it’s called IF it is during their duty hours, and IF the weather is clear enough to fly. It’s not staffed 24/7. So the Husky Deli robbery may have happened during a time period the copter wasn’t available.

And just FYI, a robbery is a robbery is a robbery. Whether they’re taking your purse, your dog, or your iPod; if force is used to take the item from you it’s a robbery. So the law makes no distinction between what is stolen from a person, it’s the force used.

Try not to read some kind of conspiracy into why the copter either did or didn’t respond somewhere.

Thanks, JimmyG, the hours idea makes sense. No conspiracy theories here, and your point that a robbery is a robbery was exactly mine if I wasn’t clear. Just wondered why one and not the other – so are those that come out with searchlights at night different? County vs. city maybe?

  • JimmyG May 27, 2008 (9:58 am)

    SPD has no police helicopter.

Only the King County Sheriff has a helicopter. Your county tax dollars at work even though you live in the city.

thanks for the update. we were concerned by the police presence on our corner and hope the victim and her dog are doing okay.

Maybe they’d bring the chopper out for the girl that stole my heart?

  • bart May 27, 2008 (10:49 am)

Rick, it’s probably been sold for meth or crack by now. I don’t think you’re getting it back.

  • Rick May 27, 2008 (11:32 am)

Bummer. But I still want to see the helicopter again…….

every now and then i feel grateful that my dog is pretty over protective and might go nuts if someone tried to take her lease away from me. while she has never bitten and i have her under control when we are walking, i think that she would put on a pretty scary act to someone trying to abduct her. also good thing she is a super mixed up mutt. cute, but i dont think there is any sort of market for her husky/border collie/lab/golden retreiver mix. i hope that the woman and her dog are safe and sound.
