Faith-based activities abound this weekend – Seattle CROP Walk in the Alki area on Sunday (WSB 2007 photo above); two chances to have your pet(s) blessed; Holy Rosary‘s annual Alumni Sunday … Meantime, tonight and tomorrow are the final performances of “The Vertical Hour” at ArtsWest, and the weekend even offers a chance to press cider with neighbors. 41 events on our handy list ahead:

SUNDAY MORNING-AFTERNOON: The Holy Rosary School Third Annual Alumni Sunday: Join other alumni for mass at 11:15, followed by lunch and fellowship in the school hall. 12:15 (after the 11:15 Mass), Holy Rosary School Hall, 4142 42nd Ave SW. SUNDAY AFTERNOON: St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church presents a traditional “Blessing of the Animals” event for the whole community – pet owners are invited to bring their dogs, cats, horses, guinea pigs, ferrets, hamsters, birds and more for a special blessing in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. This is a custom celebrated around the world each autumn, on or near St. Francis’ feast day. The Humane Society’s “MaxMobile” mobile adoption and education center will be on site as well for on-the-spot pet adoptions.     Isn’t there also a pet blessing at Providence Mt. St. Vincent on Saturday morning? Or did I overlook that part? My brain is a little foggy this afternoon…

    Hi! Both are in there – the one at The Mount is at 10:45 am Saturday. The entry for the St. John one on Sunday is longer just because they have additional activities (like the Maxmobile).
