ON WHITE CENTER NOW: From Drunky’s Two Shoes to Dottie’s Doublewide

Just after Christmas, we reported on partner site White Center Now that a new enterprise from the folks behind Drunky’s Two Shoes was on its way to the space vacated by short-lived Zanzibar: Dottie’s Doublewide. We’ve finally been able to talk to the Dottie’s team for the full story, and published it on WCN tonight.

In this instance I am one of those horrible hater people – my son and I went to Drunky Two Shoes a while back and I do not understand how they are still in business.  I’ve made better “brisket” in my crockpot; the slaw and potato salad was an insult to the food.  They appeared to be way more focused on the god awful repurposed  chainsaws as light fixtures for decor. And now they’re going to destroy tacos?  Tacos are fantastic and amazing, what did tacos or bbq ever do to these people?!?!?  I can’t wait to try their tacos ONCE.  I would love to do a poll and see how many truly satisfied repeat customers they have and how many are just homesick Texans that visit once and end up super bummed after dropping way too much cash on sub par bbq.  As a Mexican from Houston I KNOW the good stuff when I eat it.  Drunky’s is all “flair” and no substance.  As nasty as this sounds I’m sure it will be a safe cutely decorated taco place for all the transplants that haven’t truly tried any of the other numerous taco joints nearby.

Sorry, comment time is over.
