As promised, we’ve pursued further information on the Friday night incident in the 8100 block of 16th SW, initially described as a stabbing that sent a man to the hospital. We’ve obtained the Seattle Police investigation report. Here’s what it says:
The original call, around 10:30 pm Friday, was about a burglary; the person who called 911 reported that people were inside his house and in a car in front of his house. As dispatchers tried to get more information from the caller as officers headed that way, they then heard a “disturbance” in the background, with the caller “arguing with someone else,” and then at some point “someone yelling for assistance, asking for someone to come save them, someone yelling ‘he’s stabbing me’ and then someone saying ‘get off of me, I’m dying’.”
When police arrived, according to the report narrative, the officer saw a man “on the ground, bleeding from the back. (Another man) was yelling that someone was still in the house and that they were armed with a hammer knife. (The second man) said (the man on the ground) had come at him with a knife while in his home. During their struggle, (the man on the ground) had fallen on a knife that was on the floor.” Officers searched the house for the possible second stuff; but, according to the narrative, “The house was full of pepper spray and made it difficult to breathe. No other suspect was found in the house. During the search, a knife was found in the house near the back door …” At that point, police got a call from a block away, 8100 block of 15th SW, saying a “female was at (a) front door, said she was maced.” She turned out to be the girlfriend of the person with the knife wound at the other house, which she told police the two of them had gone to “to get a wash(ing) machine”; once there, she told officers, “she was standing at the back door of the house when someone punched her in the face and pepper-sprayed her,” after which she ran to the other house for help. She was taken to the hospital.
The officer who wrote the narrative “returned to (the 16th SW house) and attempted to figure out what happened.” The original caller said, the narrative continues, he “had called 911 to report three people in his house. He had gone inside to confront them armed with pepper spray. One of the suspects was armed with a hammer and another with a knife. (He) sprayed all three suspects and ended up wrestling with the suspect that had the knife. Somehow the suspect ended up with a deep knife wound in his back that resulted in a punctured lung. (The man who made the call) did not know how the injury occurred. The injured suspect would not talk with officers.” The report says that suspect “will be guarded [at the hospital] until he is fit to be booked into (jail).”
