kestrickerMemberAny recommendations for vacuum repair in West Seattle? The vacuum isn’t that old but I am not sure it is worth repairing or if I should just suck it up and invest in a new one.

LisaParticipantIn White Center/Top Hat, for vacuum repair, purchase or parts I go to ‘Quality Sewing & Vaccuum’, 10859 1st Ave S – Seattle 98168
(206) 244-5555
Good luck!

SueParticipantWe also took a vacuum to Quality Sewing for repair – they were honest enough to let us know the price of the repair wasn’t worth it based on the value of the vacuum; I appreciated that.

squareeyesParticipantI third Quality! A few years ago I initially took my vaccuum to a scheister in SODO who tried to convince me mine wasn’t worth repairing and sell me one of his refurb units. I stood firm and had him replace the belt and clean out a blanket of trapped lint, then a month later it quit working. I took it to Quality, they said it was just the belt (obviously first guy was a hack) and replaced it for free, and it’s been great ever since.

bigmarkMemberSpeaking of broken vacuums, ours broke a while back and I bought a new one. But I still have the old one and suspect that it could be fixed. Is there anywhere I can take it or give it away, versus just throwing it out? Does anyone buy these to refurb?

BonnieParticipantI also like Quality. I brought my vacuum up there many, many times because I like to use it as a wood chipper.

KenParticipantMost vacuumes are exceptionally simple to fix. Belts and replacement filters in most cases.
That said, many are not worth repairing if it is NOT a belt. The impeller moter is usually not available at all for the chinese made brands.
I inherited an electrolux built in 1962 and it has never needed repair. The last 5 bought since 95 have all been repaired multiple times or retired. I recycled a couple into a dust collection system for my woodworking tools.

hammerheadParticipantGo to AAA vacuum. It is in top hat yes I know not “west seattle” but the most honest business about vacs out there.

85texagParticipantI used AAA Vacuum today (Sep 2012). They were friendly, honest and quick. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes with a repaired vacuum. Yes it was a simple repair but still very good, friendly and effective service.
