Pumpkins, who has 'em still?

I still need to get a few pumpkins to carve for my porch. Which stores locally have the best selection still? Preferably open past 6pm so I can stop after work.

I got a surprisingly nice pumpkin at TJ’s yesterday for $2.99. Maybe it was Saturday. It was kind of medium small but made a lovely jack o lantern. They had a larger selection of those lumpy warty ones, all sizes, for $5.99 each. They look good carved or uncarved.

Getting pumpkins at the right time is tricky. We bought some too early and they rotted – even uncarved. Waiting too long makes selection slimmer, of course. Such a precarious business this carving tradition!

I wound up at the QFC near the Alaska Junction and they had 3 bins of giant pumpkins still for $3.99 each. I can barely get my arms around them! Going to take forever to scoop out but they’ll be great to carve! Skipped out on carving last year and really missed it, and barely got any trick-or-treaters. Now for the tricky timing of carving. A few years ago an animal took a bite out of my carved pumpkin!
