I was passing Lincoln Park at 11:30pm and a beagle crossed the road in front of a car. Thankfully they braked. I called the dog over, very friendly, but he wouldn’t stay by me. I returned with food and a leash, coaxed him into the car and now we have the dog in a small room because we are not well situated for handling a dog. Is anyone missing a beagle? If not, does someone have an idea of what I can do Friday morning to get this fella a safe place?

We had this issue on Wed. with the Husky:

    Post on the WSB.

Can you take him to a vet to have him scanned for chip? (You’re probably rushing to get to work.)

    Call Seattle Animal Shelter.

If you’re totally stuck, someone here we’ll hear your plea to take him if you cannot hang on to him.

You can call us if that is the case: 937.2327

If you need a hand watching this beagle we can offer our place. We already have a female beagle so Mr. Beagle can have a pal to hang with until the owner is found. Jim 619-865-2122.

I dropped the dog off with Jim. His family is much better prepared to take care of the beastie. So, if anyone is missing the Beagle or if you know of a home for him, please let us know.

    Thanks so much, Jim.

Jim’s wife here: Well, doggie Beagle doesn’t have a mirco chip.

We took him to get his nails cut cause they were really long. Thanks to Muttley Crew Cuts for offering to cut them for free!!!

He is pretty happy with us but hopefully he will find his people.

What an adorable doggie. I just looked at the pic on the pet page. Hope his family sees this and he can be reunited with them. If not, hope he finds the prefect forever home !

My heart just melted into a puddle upon viewing this beastie’s photo–someone must be missing him. Thanks to those of you working so hard to shelter him and find his owner.

dhg, Jim and Mrs. Jim, I have three little old beagles and if one were ever lost I really hope they’d be found by someone like you. Those super long nails might be a sign of neglect, not necessarily malicious, maybe his person is very elderly or ill … it’s just so sad that he’s lost. If you are unable to find his people, please consider contacting Beagle Rescue instead of the usual shelters. They are huge beagle lovers that will try to find him a foster home until he finds a new forever home – beaglerescue.org. Let me know if I can help.

When we took him to Muttley Crew Cuts, they also said it could be an elderly person who had him. He is such a sweetie, we call him Mr. Beagle.

We went around the Lincoln park area and posted flyers. And the nice people at Stella Ruffington and Pet Elements posted a flyer right in their window. Those are great places I just discovered!! West Seattle pets are lucky to have all these cool pet places!

Thanks for the info. We have a baby due soon and can’t keep him forever. Our little Miss Beagle dog is quite enough for us. But I have to admit, they looked so cute together walking with their noses to the ground. They are instant friends.

Hello everyone. I wanted to see if anyone else would be willing to house Mr. Beagle later this week. I have to work this weekend and my pregnant wife and boy may find it a little tough to manage him as well as our beagle. I would also be willing to trade off every other week if someone wanted to share duties with this great doggie.

ACC, I just called Seattle Animal Shelter and left a found report on Mr. Beagle in case someone calls there looking for him (left my phone # as contact). I’d be happy to come get some of your flyers or make some of my own and do some more posting this afternoon/eve. Sounds like you probably covered the area (Thriftway, etc). My number is 890 1969.

I completely understand “quite enough ..”, I too have my hands full with my three. All the more reason why you are awesome to take Mr. Beagle in even for a few days. Miss Beagle may protest when she loses her new friend : )

Mr Beagle knows Sit, Lay Down, and Turn Around, which he is doing here in this picture.

Thanks P2, We went around that area and posed a few flyers. Thanks for calling the shelter. We did that too but it’s always nice to hear when others care. This doggy knows a few tricks and is very well behaved so he must have someone who is missing him. Just wish we could find them.

I will email you a flyer. Thanks.

ACC…thank you so much for helping out this little doggie. And congratulations on your impending parenthood. And thanks for the pictures. He’s an adorable doggie. I’ve been wondering if maybe his person is elderly and doesn’t use a computer or visit WSB. Hope they’re found soon :)

ACC–We’re on Alki too and could help out IF the beagle can handle our dog who wants to play, herd, play, herd. Thursday’s Husky rescue did not like her energy.

Hold on for awhile please. There was a dog lost a few weeks ago and no one claimed for quite some time. It seems the owner was out of town and the “sitter” didn’t know how to find her. Thanks for caring for this little one.

Sorry guys we cannot wait on this one. We had a little issue today out on the path along Alki. The little dog got loose and the big one stayed with my wife while I stopped traffic to get the little one. Mr. Beagle got loose and my pregnant wife tripped while trying to grab him and wiped out pretty hard. We have a back up plan with angelscrest if no one else will house him for a little while.

So, does anyone know of anyone who would be willing to take this guy for a while? While I am absolutely committed to helping this guy out i also have to place my families well being at the top of the list. Maybe someone could help us watch him and we could take turns on different days? I am in the Coast Guard and I work 2 days straight and would be willing to house him again during my off duty times.

Anyhoo, thanks for everyones help on this one.

Try contacting Missing Pet Partnership. Just went to their orientation training last Saturday. They have many methods of helping ‘found’ pets, find their way home.

I like the idea of calling in Beaglerescue.org. They have a Seattle branch.

ACC and Jim are beagle saints. Mr. Beagle has found foster care for a stretch. I hope ACC is feeling okay after her spill; you are so seriously good people to take in and care for the pup.

thanks angelescrest, I had to spend 4 hours in the hospital for monitoring but the baby is ok, so all is good. My husband is gone today and I am with both dogs today by myself. They are really easy sweet dogs, it’s just when we go outside and their little noses want to take them places. Mr Beagle is a sweetie, I even took him to the doggie park yesterday. He didn’t quite know what to do. I don’t think he has ever been there before. But after the second lap around he was getting brave and hitting the trails and running a bit.

Beagle Rescue doesn’t have room for any beagles right now. So any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone :)
