    Anyone else see that?

I turned left from SB 35th onto EB WSB/Fauntleroy and here comes a bike from NB 35th onto the WSB!

Is there some kind of a short cut where they “hop the rail” a ways down? If not, he must have been stuck until 4th avenue? Scary.

Smitty: might be the same cyclist I saw riding NB on the viaduct yesterday in the bus lane about 1:00, couldn’t quite figure out where he came from or where he was going!?!?!

Omg I had a close call with a bike on the eastbound side on the 6″ sliver of “sidewalk” next to the steel mill! It was a weekend in the middle of summer. Guy was a hard core cyclist carbon fiber bike and full racing kit on. He had to put his front tire over the side of the bridge to not get hit by traffic. Spooked me so bad! He was inches from getting hit and thrown over the wall. How on earth does a cyclist justify in their head “yes this is where I should be riding”

Then there’s the midnight jaywalkers hopping the median on Aurora in LQA where there’s barely any lights and shouldn’t be any pedestrians on the road because there are pedestrian overpasses! Argh!

Seriously, is a driver still at fault if they hit someone in these situations where you could never remotely expect a pedestrian on the road?

First off, don’t worry, if you hit a cyclist it’s very unlikely that you’ll be cited at all, even if you kill them(http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/10/opinion/sunday/is-it-ok-to-kill-cyclists.html?_r=0) But secondly, cyclists aren’t supposed to be on freeways, and those that do it, are not good representations of cyclists. Just like a driver going the wrong way on the freeway is not a good representation of drivers.

Note: Some parts of I-90 are actually designated as cycle trails and part of the Mountains-to-Sound Greenway.

When I hear this, I wonder if they simply made a mistake. I’m not a cyclist so not familiar with the route, but perhaps they get confused when trying to follow the trail under the bridge, and then accidentally end up on the ramp? Then they realize “oh crap” and there’s no where to go but continue, hoping there’s a way to get off ASAP.

Sue, I think that’s what happens when they get on the bridge near Delridge–that trail access to the lower bridge (with its nice wide separated path for walkers and bikes) is kind of hard to spot. Getting on from Fauntleroy, I don’t even know; I’d certainly never try it!
