JanS, based on sounds around my neighborhood, yes, unfortunately the fireworks stands are open. I love the hot weather, don’t love having to water constantly, and get a little irritated by premature explosions scaring my kitty. :)

many speak of tolerance, but in reality, many do not practice it…

maybe he was wearing the armband for reaction only. You don’t know if you don’t engage with him, or anyone. To ASSume often doesn’t work out too well…

Trying to call about an issue with fiber. it goes into a large 19″ rack mounted Juniper that they provided. I have a question, bill has no tech support number. I call and I get routed to residential, then business, then residential then business. I speak to Debbie, Steve, Mike, Pat. Each person has no idea how to help me. They only want to transfer. I provide the Acct #, the phone #, the address…. they cannot find the account. I am currently 36 minutes into the call and talking to someone WHO HAS NO IDEA how to program the Juniper box they sent much less who does know this information. Even if Century Link offers you a great deal, turn and run.

I so wish that it would either open an hour earlier and/or close an hour later. I live 2 blocks away and rarely get to the market because I leave for church right when it opens and by the time I get out of church and stop for brunch, it’s closing up. I know it’s my choice to choose one over the other, but it’s still disappointing.

I am watching CNN right now and the show is “Anne Frank’s Holocaust.” My grandfather had two ships sunk from beneath him and was horribly maimed by German attacks on the supply ships he was on making runs to Mermansk, USSR. My alcoholic father suffered from what we now know were the effects of his father’s PTSD. In a way, I still suffer from the after-effects of that long-ago war.

That said, I will defend with all my might the right of this man to wear that arm band and to think his own thoughts, however repellant they may be. We fought our wars, for the most part, for his right to believe what he wishes.

I don’t think I could have resisted saying something. My partner’s dad was imprisoned as a slave laborer at several Nazi death camps, and many of his immediate family were murdered. Yes, we have to be careful these days, as these nuts might have guns. But what would you do if you saw someone in full KKK regalia?

Not that we’re going to change these creeps’ minds. Some are just itching for an argument. But I did have fun knocking over a LaRouche sign about a year ago. The LaDouches have every right to support their man (he’s still alive?), but their usual sign, a photo of Obama with a Hitler moustache, is more than I can tolerate. I told them my mom had to flee the Nazis in 1938, I told them about my partner’s dad, and I said that they may not like Obama, how how dare they compare him to Hitler. They looked like deer in the headlights. I then knocked over their stupid sign and walked away.

I hate to say it, but spray the crap out of it with Roundup, then do it again. And again. And again. If you hit it really well when the plant is in flower, you’ll get about an 80-90% die off the next season (as in, much less will come back and the root system down there will be really weak). If you can fry it right before it winters over, you should be able to get it under control the following year. It’s NASTY stuff, so if your neighbors aren’t controlling theirs, you’ll have a much harder problem keeping it gone. I got mine pretty under control in one season, but I was not conservative with the poison. I felt bad about using it, but it’s sort of the only way, unless you can steralize the soil.

It is thoughtless and I can’t grasp why people are so irresponsible not only discarding cigarettes out say their car window or on the rooftop of their apartments but also and just as important is along our city streets upon pavement where it’s a constant eyesore and when rains come travel into Puget Sound and other local waterways.

We have several pretty full cans of latex paint and are in search of an organization that accepts donations. It would be a shame to fill the cans with kitty litter and have them end up in a landfill. Any suggestions from my neighbors in WS?
