WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Armed robbery at Admiral 7-Eleven

12:18 AM: Police are converging on the Admiral Way 7-Eleven after two men are reported to have robbed the store a short time ago. So far they are described as both Black, in their mid-20s, about 5’6″, one in a red mask and black T-shirt, armed with a black handgun, the other in dark clothing and unarmed. They are reported to have gotten away in a car only described as a “silver sedan.”

12:42 AM: Officers have just given dispatch an updated description of the getaway car: Now it’s described as a newer 4-door blue Hyundai.

ADDED SATURDAY: We’ve obtained the police-report narrative, which adds that the till taken by the robbers was discovered by officers heading back toward the precinct, dumped on the side of the Admiral Way hill (3000 block). As for the holdup, the clerk told police that “he was near the back of the store when he was surprised by the two (robbers …one who) was wearing a red scarf covering his head and face pulled out a gun … then proceeded to tell (the clerk) to open the register while pointing the gun to his right side … (the clerk) opened the cash register and the suspect grabbed approximately 500$ from the till … (the other was) holding the door halfway open … (the robber with the gun) grabbed the register till and ran toward … a parked vehicle in front of the 7-11.” The description of the car is redacted, so we don’t know if there’s anything beyond what’s in our original update.

It might be time to do something.

Is 7-11 really doing that much business after 11:00pm that they need to be open late?

What a weird take.  Closed stores are also targets.  The problem here is not 7-11s hours.  The store is open so clearly 7-11 thinks it’s worth being open.  So yeah, they need to be open that late.

I wonder how weird of a take it was to the employee who had a gun in their face. Hmm

I wonder how weird of a take it would be for the family who losses a loved one over a few dollars and some overpriced snacks. The weird take here is profits over people.

I don’t like to see anyone loose a job but is staying open worth being shot?  Does any one remember what 7 – 11 means????

Michael, if they were called 7-7 they’d simply be robbed at 5pm. The clock doesn’t stop these dastardly robbers. The easiest time for armed robbery suspects to evade police is rush hour: more cars = harder to locate and pursue suspects.

It’s absurd to suggest that the solution is that businesses must close at a certain hour (when it gets dark?!) because of armed robberies. That’s ridiculous. 95% of all bank robberies occur during daytime open hours… should we close all banks due to the risk that they will be robbed? Comical. The solution is multiple layers of preventive measures and robust law enforcement (police need to stop at nothing until the perpretrators are caught, and prosecutors must seek long prison sentences).

Classic were blaming the victim. Maybe the store is closed completely, it would no longer get robbed? Does that sound like the best idea? Michael? Or should we as a society maybe be focused on reducing incentives for people to rob stores?

I would fully support 7-11 closing in the late evening and early morning hours.

Erik, it seems that you never had to buy infants Tylenol at 3am. I’m always grateful to 7-11 employees who are there rain or shine and day or night.

Is this getaway car possibly the same car involved with the incident that caused the Madison school to shelter in place?

  • Marcus May 30, 2025 (3:07 pm)

Need more police patrols wandering around and being aware of cars and people. Closing early is silly.

Thank our legislators for short circuiting that issue.

So instead of doing the only thing that is proven to reduce criminality, we’re going to scold businesses that stay open late and/or take cash.

  • Michael May 30, 2025 (5:05 pm)

Stores generally get robbed later in the evening because there is significantly less people traffic. I in no way suggested that a business be punished because there is not enough of a police presence. But it seems that 7-11 gets robbed frequently. From a safety and security standpoint for the employees, is there that much more money being made after 11-12 o”clock?

There was a shooting at the 35th and Barton 7-11 in broad daylight in front of dozens of witnesses less than 2 weeks ago. Even with all of those eyes, security cameras, and cellphones the perpetrators got away. They could’ve robbed the place with no shots fired and got away much easier. Daylight doesn’t stop them.

I’m so sorry that these senseless, dangerous robberies keep happening. Why can’t 711s just close from say 11PM to 5:30AM? I doubt they get enough business to justify the risk.

  • PotKettleBlack May 30, 2025 (6:45 pm)

We can go ahead and close all the 7-11s nationwide as long as nothing interferes with our ability keep selling GUNS, GUNS, GUNS!! Gotta keep those sweet dollar bills rolling in!

  • Gatewood May 30, 2025 (10:06 pm)

This isn’t necessarily applicable to this specific, umpteenth 7-11 robbery but as a general reminder: anytime you happen to witness assailants, suspects, trespassers, prowlers, the sketchy, the suspicious and the like— if you are going to make note of descriptive factors to report, and if you can, always try to also include the shoes. Perps will often quickly ditch or change a shirt, jacket, hat etc., but rarely their shoes.
