TONIGHT’S SKY SIGHT: Venus, close to crescent moon

The waxing crescent moon was part of a sky show again tonight:

If you weren’t looking up around 5:30 pm, this is what you missed. Christopher Boffoli sent the image above, and Robin Sinner sent the image below.

Will we see this again tomorrow? Part of the forecast looks like a rerun – dense morning fog followed by some sun.

Beautiful, thank you. We’re in a cloud here in Chelan.

That’s beautiful. I was looking up at the sky around this time and wondered if that was Venus. I always tell people to look up into the sky when they are feeling down. It makes them feel better.

I caught a quick view from Beach Drive and then headed to Capitol Hill.

Venus and the Moon will both be visible in tonight’s sky, but farther apart. Venus will be in about the same location, and will set in the west around 7:20pm (give or take the mountains & clouds). The Moon will be higher up and farther to the left of Venus than it was last night, and will set more like 8:30pm. We will have Venus with us as an evening sight for the next couple months.

I actually saw this last night. I had to do a double take and make sure it wasn’t a plane. It was beautiful and so bright! Will look for it again tonight!

A bench, some fog, the moon and Venus. (Last night, from Friday Harbor)

Sorry, comment time is over.
