UPDATE: Another Brace Point power outage

5:50 PM: Thanks for the tip. Another power outage has hit Brace Point – 166 homes out since just after 2 pm, according to the Seattle City Light map. No cause listed yet, but this area’s had repeated underground cable failures, and SCL is working on replacements and upgrades over the next two-plus years.

7:31 PM: SCL now lists the cause as “equipment failure.”

1:02 AM: 72 homes are still mapped as out.

Comcast cable is out. They don’t openly publish their numbers, one must log in. They estimate 2,500 households have no data or tv.

Comcast used to put a generator out for the internet and tv (usually right outside our house), but so far for this outage they haven’t. Hopefully if it lasts much longer they will get one out there.

These outages are becoming a bit too frequent and doesn’t seem like much work has started on the repairs that are supposed to take 2-3 years. Never thought I would be living in the city and considering purchasing a generator.

As I hear my neighbors’ generator whirl away I’m getting a bit jealous. Workers were out yesterday looking at all the materials dropped off for projects just sitting there for 2 months. Said they were waiting on permits. Why Seattle Light can’t coordinate with city of Seattle is beyond me.

Sorry, comment time is over.
