Crash takes out hydrant along Fauntleroy Way

Thanks to Lola for the photo. That’s the second West Seattle crash in less than 12 hours to have taken out a hydrant. This one happened in the 5600 block of Fauntleroy Way SW, with a driver hitting a parked car, and the hydrant getting hit in the process. The driver was reported to have walked away from the scene, but a medical dispatch indicated he was found some blocks away shortly thereafter.

Many people are hurt from automobile wrecks and I hope that this person is ok and doing well.  But for everyone who is out there in the world driving slow down you are driving too fast.  To all the drivers out there on the streets Stop speeding!!  If you are driving then stop the madness and stop texting or talking on the phone and put down your hamburger and pay attention to the road drivers!!! Stop driving stoned and drunk!! Stop driving with your dog in your lap! In other words focus your attention to the road!

Sounds like a drunk driver, and sounds like they tried to do a hit and run. Hope they throw the book at them. Could of been a lot worst though. Could of hit a person.

Unfortunately this accident happened near our house, and we would like to figure out how to take care of the glass that was left on the street, sidewalk, and planter for everyone’s safety. Does anyone know if this is something the city can clean up? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

If it’s on the sidewalk and street, definitely call SDOT. Their 24/7 dispatch number is 206-386-1218. Stress that it’s a hazard in the street and on the sidewalk.

I always thought the Tow Truck driver did the clean-up, could be wrong???

Thank you for your response. We were told by the police the tow truck company would clean it up and then they did not, but we will contact SDOT. Thanks!
