STILL MISSING: Have you seen Jackie?

TUESDAY NIGHT: It’s now a day and a half since we reported that SPD was asking for help finding missing West Seattle resident Jackie Dupras, and her daughter says Jackie has not yet been found, and they are searching and posting flyers. She is described as “74, diagnosed with dementia and increasing memory issues, 5’3″, 135 lbs., reddish gray hair, green eyes.” Last seen Sunday in North Admiral, in the 1900 block of 46th Ave SW. Call 911 if you have information.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Here’s the poster her family has made:

Has Lily Bailey been found yet? Two missing women in West Seattle and  reports of mysterious man following women  has me very concerned.

    • WSB September 19, 2018 (7:20 am)

Yes, Lily was found after about a day and a half, and we updated at that time last week.

      • carol isaac September 20, 2018 (12:28 pm)

This is confusing…is Jackie really found.  I’m hearing there are two women…and the other was found.

        • WSB September 20, 2018 (12:35 pm)

I have no updates, from family or from police. As for “two women,” I don’t know who you are referring to but there are no other West Seattle missing-person cases pending that I’m aware of – at least not that police have publicized.

        • Diane September 21, 2018 (5:18 pm)

Carol Isaac; I don’t understand why people keep spreading the false rumor about Jackie being found; not true; I talked to Jackie’s daughter couple hours ago, on Friday, Sept 21; JACKIE IS  STILL MISSING, 5 days now

      • Janet September 23, 2018 (10:54 pm)

Is there some way to delete the threads regarding Lily? It is confusing to readers.

  • ACG September 19, 2018 (9:00 am)

For the family, if they are reading…Does Jackie know how to use the bus or is she most likely on foot?  Do you need help searching any specific areas?  I’m hoping she is found safely very soon.

    • Sarah Dupras September 19, 2018 (10:16 pm)

She knew how to use the bus a few years ago. She used to take the 55 to downtown. She didn’t have a bus pass on her and we don’t know if she had any money, but she could probably sill get on the bus. We think she would most likely be on foot, though. She is very fast and can walk pretty far.

  • Andyb September 19, 2018 (9:08 am)

Sue,I live down the street from your mom and dad and if it helps can help look / put up posters/alert the media etc. when I get home this evening. Please, let me know if there is anything I can do. Thinking of you all. Andy

  • Liz Giba September 19, 2018 (12:24 pm)

Jackie is a walker.  Please post this on WCN.  Thank you.

    • Diane September 19, 2018 (12:51 pm)

good info; good suggestion; thanks Liz

  • Nichole September 19, 2018 (3:01 pm)

An unfortunate reminder that dementia is a cruel and dangerous disease.  I encourage anyone who has a cognition issue to invest in a medical alert braclet with gps tracking. The monthly fees are usually around $35. Peace of mind is worth that!

  • Kathleen September 19, 2018 (8:11 pm)

Someone notified me that Jackie was found.  I hope its true.

    • WSB September 19, 2018 (8:25 pm)

I hope so too. Have not heard anything from either her family or police yet. The police rep who was at the meeting I’m covering right now has left or I’d ask him to check …

      • Diane September 20, 2018 (10:50 am)

wsblog; I sent you an email yesterday, with Sarah, re how to check Metro cameras on buses 5 & 21, because there was a comment on the SPD tweet re a woman with Jackie’s description asked how to take the 5 to Pioneer Square, and she was told to take the 21; you can see that comment by opening the SPD tweet in your first alert story about Jackie missing; did you not get our email? Sarah asked how to check the bus cameras and I thought you would know, so I sent you an email with Sarah cc’d; perhaps it’s a long-shot if Jackie is a walker, but isn’t everything worth pursuing right now?  thanks Sarah for morning update; many of us, Jackie’s friends, are with you and want to help you find her

    • Sarah Dupras September 20, 2018 (7:56 am)

      No, she is still missing.

  • Kate Dupras September 19, 2018 (9:06 pm)

Jackie is still missing. She has not been found yet. Please continue looking and praying for her return. Thank you.

  • Mark September 20, 2018 (9:42 am)

Asking as a colleague of her husband and connected to search and rescue: Is the last seen location near their home, or someplace else? Are there routes she frequents? Are there favorite walks or locations she has an attachment to from the past she may be inclined to go to?I have passed along the poster to the staff at Camp Long and have alerted some search and rescue friends who live in W Seattle.

    • Lacey September 20, 2018 (3:41 pm)

Someone commented on the SPD Twitter feed saying, “A woman matching this description came up to me at the NB 35th/Avalon bus stop around 7:10am asking for the “5 bus” to downtown she was looking to get to pioneer square & I told her to take the 21 line.” I can’t go out looking, but if I could, I would look where the 21 line gets off near Pioneer Square, and search the area.

  • Vanessa September 20, 2018 (11:05 am)

I heard she was found. I will get details……..

    • Janet September 23, 2018 (10:56 pm)

She has not. Please delete this message.

  • Mark September 20, 2018 (11:20 am)

Can we please keep the “I heard” stuff to ourselves  until there is reliable confirmation? All it does is confuse things (see upthread).

  • Mark September 20, 2018 (3:02 pm)

For those seeing search results that say Jackie has been found, it is possible you are confusing this incident with one in May. It comes up in a Google search intermingled with this one. Please check the date.

  • Me September 20, 2018 (3:07 pm)

She’s still missing?  Has any one went looking

  • Ashley September 20, 2018 (11:43 pm)

She comes into the bridge every Wednesday with a group of ladies. Last time she went missing she was on her way there. Please lookout for her usual walk (between california ave and 35th off Juneau or Morgan). She will be found, just is a very head strong woman and will walk until she does.

  • Kate Dupras September 22, 2018 (10:48 am)

Jackie is still missing. Please continue sharing and looking!

    • H. Valentine September 22, 2018 (12:30 pm)

Thank you for the updates. Prayers to you and your family. I’m heading downtown and will keep my eyes open there.

    • Diane September 22, 2018 (12:48 pm)

thank you for the verified-by-family update Kate; Jackie is still missing, 6 days now; please keep looking for her and if you see anyone who could even maybe be her, call 911

    • karen September 23, 2018 (8:55 am)

      • Diane September 23, 2018 (12:45 pm)

Karen, so sorry to hear about your mom; thank you so much for offering help; I sent your comment to our group of friends who have been posting flyers,  and to put you in contact with Jackie’s husband Ed; really appreciate your offer to help; it’s 7 days now, we need more helpers to find Jackie

        • Kelly September 23, 2018 (1:45 pm)

Diane, I’m quite happy to help.  I know both Jackie and Ed and sang with Jackie in the SLC.  Please tell me what I can do to help.  206 926 3912.

          • Diane September 23, 2018 (3:10 pm)

            thank you Kelly

    • Lee September 23, 2018 (7:42 pm)

Around 5 p.m. today while walking my dog I saw a woman walking on 52nd Ave SW between Oregon and Genesee. I said hello but she just looked at me. Something seemed off so I stopped and watched her walk toward Genesee. I debated asking her if she was lost but because she was holding a cardboard coffee cup I figured she was just enjoying the day. Then I saw this notice tonight. I wish I had approached her! I am certainly not sure this was Jackie…The woman I saw had more gray than red hair. She was wearing an orange jacket or sweatshirt with gray-green pants. And she was holding a coffee cup. I’ve reported this to the police.

      • neighbor September 24, 2018 (12:22 am)

That description matches the woman I reported seeing the day before she was last seen.  I think this lead may be important.

        • Kate Dupras September 24, 2018 (5:14 pm)

We followed this up right after it was posted and couldn’t find her. Knowing this description matches both instances is very important. Hopeful that she could be in WS still then.

          • neighbor September 24, 2018 (7:24 pm)

Wife saw her or *very* similar woman wearing orange vest again this morning.  This time the lady was standing at the southbound bus stop at California and Avalon between 9 and 10 am.Note: we both saw her a week ago.  Wife doesn’t read the blog.

          • neighbor September 24, 2018 (8:21 pm)

Can’t reply or edit to my own message.  I meant to write my wife saw *very* similar woman standing at the southbound bus stop of California and Admiral, not Avalon.

  • Julie September 22, 2018 (10:07 pm)

My husband has suggested that perhaps, especially if she ended up downtown, she might be in a homeless encampment somewhere, frightened and seeking shelter.

  • Beth September 23, 2018 (5:32 am)

I have a friend who is a police officer and a member of the the Navigation Team. I gave her the information with the pictures of Jackie on Friday. I know she sent the picture to the rest of the team to be on the lookout for Jackie. I pray she is found soon!

    • Diane September 23, 2018 (12:59 pm)

thank you Beth; really appreciate your help; we still need more helpers to find Jackie

  • JEANNE September 23, 2018 (8:23 am)

We have made contact with Seattle resources with staff that visit homeless encampments in the Seattle area so they have her picture and information. We have also left information at the Burien women’s shelter in case someone made contact with her.

  • JEANNE September 23, 2018 (4:45 pm)

Just a quick comment…If you are like me – and I am her sister – it’s hard to know what to do. On Saturday, my other sister and I put up flyers through Alki, the southern part of California and some places that she had a history with in Burien. Continuing with flyers and physical checks of areas certainly can’t hurt.It sure would be nice if we heard something from the police….to at least know they are doing what is possible.Whatever you choose to do know that her family appreciates your assistance and kind actions and thoughts.

    • WSB September 23, 2018 (4:57 pm)

Thanks. I’ve been corresponding with a few people because I’m publishing another reminder/update this evening so if there’s anything more we can or should say … please e-mail me: westseattleblog@gmail.com – we are also reachable instantly 24/7, text or voice, at 206-296-6302 – Tracy

    • Bess September 23, 2018 (5:40 pm)

Hi Jeannie,Has anyone contacted the news media?  I would be happy to help coordinate this if it needs doing. I can be reached at(206) 683-8085.Bess

      • Diane September 23, 2018 (6:45 pm)

thanks Bess, any help with contacting media would be great; we’ve tried getting on TV, to no avail; and CM Herbold contacted Seattle Times; not aware of any other media besides wsblog helping so far

    • Diane September 23, 2018 (6:21 pm)

thanks Jeanne; grateful for your update; we’re doing our best to help, but it’s been hard to get collective info on what everyone is doing; thanks for info on areas you’ve posted flyers; we are with you, also feeling a bit helpless; and yes, it’s been very frustrating not getting any info from police; the contact info & case ID was passed on to CM Herbold yesterday, who said she’d contact the detective and would contact police chief if still no response

    • Bess September 23, 2018 (8:49 pm)

Hi JeanneI have been doing some research: the family can request a missing persons report to activate a silver alert here http://www.wsp.wa.gov/crime/alerts-missing-persons/That will also alert the media.Bess

  • Chris September 23, 2018 (7:22 pm)

We are certain saw at Safeway in Admiral the day she disappeared.   She was going one direction, and then the other direction in the aisle between cashiers and the rows of groceries, We are not sure of the time though…..perhaps before noon.    Probably not very helpful at this point.

    • Diane September 23, 2018 (10:16 pm)

Chris, do you have camera footage that day during the time you think she was seen in Admiral Safeway?  that would at least give a clue as to what she was wearing

  • JEANNE September 23, 2018 (8:22 pm)

The immediate family are the direct link with the police and are the ultimate decision makers on  involving any media coverage in which case a silver alert would probably ensue – so if any of the immediate family are reading this it is your call. I would not want to step on their toes and pursue anything beyond what I can do on my own and will leave it for their response.

    • Kate Dupras September 24, 2018 (5:19 pm)

We are doing everything we can to get SPD and WSP to do more, check cameras, activate silver alert, etc. They have not been very responsive, but we are still persisting.

      • teddy dupras September 24, 2018 (9:26 pm)

talk to cop at target get coffee(1 of 2 cars there) did even know who she was or that she was missing. need a flyer.

  • LG September 23, 2018 (9:32 pm)

Any reason this case has not been bumped up to an endangered missing person’s case?  The search is more proactive.

  • Mark September 23, 2018 (10:53 pm)

I am a colleague of Jackie’s husband. I have some friends in the PR community in Seattle. If they are able to help I will connect with the family through mutual friends.

  • Bess September 26, 2018 (9:37 am)

    Here is the silver alert:http://www.wsp.wa.gov/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Dupras_Jacqueline.pdf

  • Vanessa September 26, 2018 (12:23 pm)

Ashley, when you said, she usually comes into the bridge on Wednesdays, I’m assuming that is the sports bar The Bridge, right?  Is it safe to assume, that the employees of the Bridge will be on the lookout for her? I can only speak for myself, but I am sure there are dozens of us, who would be willing to go out on foot and look for her. Is there anyone, organizing such a search? I can help after work hours and on the weekend. Vanessa 206-962-1940

Sorry, comment time is over.
