UPDATE: 1 hospitalized after 2-car crash at 35th SW and SW Brandon

(WSB photos)

8:39 PM: Thanks to Erin for the tip. Northbound 35th is blocked at Brandon because of a crash involving at least 2 vehicles. One is up on the sidewalk south of Brandon, another vehicle blocking Brandon.

Avoid the area. It’s just started raining heavily after an extended break.

8:50 PM: Now only the outside NB lane is blocked. Police tell us the woman driving the car that went up on the sidewalk was taken to the hospital; one tow truck is here already and they’re hoping the second will arrive soon.

9:18 PM: Photos added after we returned to HQ.

All clear now. Be careful out there!

    Probably needs a road diet

Yet another too familiar scene. Dedicated turn lane can’t happen soon enough.

This is NOT a reason for a stinking “road diet” it’s a reason to SLOW DOWN IN the RAIN. Remember M & George T – back in driver’s ed you were supposed to slow down 5mph below the posted speed limit in the rain!! Stop thinking that “nannying” West Seattle Arterials is the fix-it for everything. It’s not for safety, it’s for BUSINESSES – to slow down people to shop…WAKE UP &smell the coffee.

There is no indication that speed had anything to do with this crash. And there are no businesses in the 35th/Brandon area. – TR

I’ve lived near this intersection for years and every accident is related to a collision involving a turn from 35th onto Brandon, not to mention the near misses of residents attempting to turn from Brandon onto 35th with vehicles recklessly speeding by. Yes, people need to drive carefully, but obviously not all do. There are numerous arterials throughout Seattle’s densely populated neighborhoods that do not need to be four lanes, and I’ve yet to hear about any similar accidents on Fauntleroy since its revisions.

Sorry, comment time is over.
