West Seattle Crime Watch: Burglary attempt; vehicle vandalism

2 West Seattle Crime Watch reports from the WSB inbox, an attempted burglary and a case of vehicle vandalism – read on:

From Diane:

About 1:20 am Saturday morning, July 2nd, there was an attempted break-in through an open window in a house in the 9200 Block of Fauntleroy Way SW. The owner was sleeping right by the window, woke and startled the intruder, and he fled. There were cars in the driveway so the house didn’t look empty. So this is pretty serious. The suspect was a white man, mid 20’s with short curly hair, medium build.

A daytime burglary in this same block occurred on June 25th (also reported on the blog). We don’t know if the two are related, but in both cases, the description was a white man in his 20’s.

From Adrian, at California/Frontenac just south of Morgan Junction:

Looks like somebody pushed over my little red motorcycle Saturday night between 12:30am when I parked it and when I found it at 8am.

I doubt anyone was out and about overnight to see anything, but perhaps somebody saw it and made a note of it.

Creepy. Glad he was scared off. Now that the weather is warming up, open windows can be an invitation. Try and secure them if you can. I have windows that slide horizontally, so I use 1×1 wooden sticks that I lay in the sill. They are cut so that the window slides open enough to allow air flow without allowing a person to climb through. It’s not Fort Knox, but it will stop an opportunist every time.

Sorry, comment time is over.
