Update: Police search in Morgan Junction area

Have just received a couple of notes – including this from Nathan:

I was just out in my front yard and saw at least three cop
cars circling the area. Two officers stopped to ask if I had seen a
white male, blond hair with a two-tone jacket come by. They indicated
that there was a break-in a couple blocks north on 39th (somewhere
near 39th and Graham or Morgan) and they are conducting a search.

Also word of police presence near 35th/Morgan. Checking to see if we can find out more.

7:44 PM UPDATE: From Ashley, in comments:

We’re in the 36th and Morgan area (map). Our neighbor’s place was broken into, hence the police presence. She was home…and the punks walked right in through the garage in the back. Everyone be careful! It’s amazing that this stuff is now taking place in broad daylight…walking right in the door. Bad enough we have our cars broke into on a normal basis!

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly is a two two jacket?

Sorry, in my rush to get a message off to WSB I made at least two grammatical errors – should be “white male” and “two-tone” jacket.

    Aghhh what is UP lately?

  • patrick April 23, 2009 (7:35 pm)

    or a white mail?

  • WSB April 23, 2009 (8:06 pm)

fixed, since Nathan acknowledged they were typos – TR

I’ve noticed an indifference to crime in the WSB by many recently.

In this case, people making fun of (….do you think this is a joke…..or are you more concerned about making fun of inaccurate descriptions by) frantic, scared victims.

Are you out of touch or have you not been broken into lately (I was Oct ’08.) Someone’s home being violated isn’t a political/blog debate.

Why the home was broken into is a big picture debate no doubt.

I’ll bet this will solicit defensive rhetoric. I hope not.

To those with no constructive input or compassion please keep your not funny crime comments to yourself.

Your comments, Mongus, are appreciated. Critiquing the typos of someone in shock and alerting the community is not cool. Community could come together around the need to get Skyelar Hailey off the streets. He’s not the only cretin in the area.

Glad to see neighbors watching out for each other.

    Mingus, sorry.

Actually the two-two jacket seemed like a legitimate question to me originally – I am so out of touch with slang these days, though maybe – but yeah, mail was over the top. We don’t usually let typo razzing through, it’s off-topic and pointless, although that’s different from someone pointing out, for example, that we made a mistake in something we wrote – which we very much appreciate … TR

I’m at 37th and Elmgrove and there’s police presence down 37th at Monroe…cops loudspeakered about 10 min ago to stay in houses as there’s a shooting suspect they’re looking for!
    What the heck!?!?

  • WSB April 23, 2009 (10:40 pm)

A report of possible shots. Will post separately about it in a min. There is no VICTIM in an active incident, though – it may be just, shots heard, at this point.

  • Stuart April 23, 2009 (10:42 pm)

Okay. Seriously, you guys rule to get me that info this quickly!
I’m sitting here with a friend eating cheesy poofs, semi-freaking out.

I was scared, too. Although I guess we should be comforted that there were so many police in the area, doing their jobs. What a weird night.

Breaking into somebody’s house is a really stupid and dangerous thing to do. While I don’t care for the death penalty, I won’t shed a tear if some drug-addled thief gets shot while plying through somebody’s valuables late at night. Jerks. Get a real job.

Sorry, comment time is over.
