Unmasked, at last

One month after putting it up, city crews finally pulled the covers off the left-turn light at 35th/Thistle this morning, and it’s up ‘n’ running:

I remember the story about the lady being killed by an ice cream truck at that intersection. R.I.P.

I liked the way the lights were timed back in the old days (maybe four or five years ago and earlier). Now, the priority is given to 35th, and if you use Thistle, you have to wait considerably longer.

I just wish people didn’t have to die before the city took action. 35th and Thistle, 47th and Admiral, etc.

Yuck, have to say I don’t like this. The few times I’ve hit this I’ve sat both a LONG time on Thistle – forget it if you’re also behind the Metro that turns north on 35th – and in the left turn (arrow) lane watching plenty of large gaps in traffic go by without being able to turn left. I wish it had that flashing yellow segment in addition to the left arrow. Is it just the time of day I’m there? I’ve never seen the deathtrap that some suggested in previous posts. Was the ice cream truck incident recent?

i usually turn on one of the streets that is north of thistle. they’re narrower streets but there’s no traffic and no waiting.

heading north from thistle: rose, southern, elmgrove, monroe, kenyon, holden, ida, austin…they all work for getting between california and 35th. morgan works too.

Sorry, comment time is over.
