RSS

WSB is full of places you can click to subscribe to RSS feeds of our stories, comments, forum posts … but we realize they’re scattered all over the site … so here’s one comprehensive list of RSS feeds we offer; the links go to the feeds themselves, NOT to the source pages here on the site, so be sure you have a feed reader ready to go (like Google Reader) before clicking them. Let us know (editor@westseattleblog.com) if there’s something else you’d like to subscribe to but aren’t finding!

FEEDS FOR INDIVIDUAL COMMENT THREADS
Each individual post/article on the WSB main page(s) has a link you can use for an RSS feed of comments posted below it. Find the link right above the comment box; it says, “RSS feed for comments on this post.”

FEEDS FOR INDIVIDUAL FORUM TOPICS
Every topic created anywhere in the WSB Forums can generate an RSS feed to which you can subscribe. Just go to the bottom of any page in any topic, above the “REPLY” section, and look for the small-type link “RSS feed for this topic.”

FEEDS FOR INDIVIDUAL COVERAGE CATEGORIES
Each of the categories we created as ongoing archives for certain coverage areas – almost 100 — has its own RSS feed, so, for example, if you are interested in following our coverage of the Alaskan Way Viaduct via RSS, you can subscribe to the RSS feed for that category, and each new post there will turn up in your feed reader. To find these links, scroll down any WSB page and look for the spot on the right sidebar – shortly under the weather graphic (with temperature and wind speed) – that is headed WSB CATEGORIES. Each category name has an (rss) following its name; just click that (rss) to subscribe to that given coverage category.

RSS HANDY HINT
You can also create your own WSB RSS feeds through Google News (potentially other search engines – this just happens to be the one with which we are most familiar). Let’s say you want to set up a feed that will alert you every time we mention the Southwest Library. Go to news.google.com; make a search for “west seattle blog” “southwest library” (the quote marks around specific phrases are very important, to hone in on relevant results); then when you have results, click the RSS link on the left side of the Google News page, and it should set you up with a special feed for exactly what you’re seeking. (There’s also an “About Feeds” link that should help if you run into trouble.)

Thanks very much for being part of WSB, however you access the news, information, and discussion here — the site, RSS, Twitter, Facebook, whatever!
