I’m looking for a beginner yoga studio on WS. I’ve never done yoga and am really not into the whole spiritual side of it, but would like to try the exercise. As well, what are normal rates for classes?

8 limbs in West Seattle has a good introductory series. You can find more information here: http://www.8limbsyoga.com/yoga-classes.php?loc=west-seattle

I recommend calling them or stopping by to ask more detailed questions. The entrance is in the alley behind Jak’s.

I go to Limber Yoga which is located in the Junction on 42nd across from Jefferson Square. Aubrey is amazing – patient, knowledgeable and with a great sense of humor. Our morning class has all levels and she is great at giving personal attention to beginners or to some of us who may be having a hard time. There are other classes on the schedule and I think that she may have a beginners class too but I am not sure. You can check out their website for pricing and class schedule. The one thing that she does that I think is pretty great is that if you miss a class, you can make it up and you don’t have to pay for the series – only for the number of classes that you want to take.

Hey GretaGrace, it looks like you got some help, I would second Al’s rec for 8Limbs’ intro series.

In case you’re still reading the thread, I want to add that the spiritual practice is inherent to yoga, so most classes, at least at 8Limbs, do incorporate some of that. You of course are not required to participate in anything that you’re not down with, but I just wanted to clarify. Also, each instructor’s style is unique, so you might have to try a few different ones til you find the one who includes the amount of spiritual work that you’re most comfortable with. :)
