MrsLoblawMemberI’ve looked at W. Sea Nursery and didn’t see it. I want the type with greenish-yellow flowers I keep seeing in everyone’s yards. Where can I find it?

GinaParticipantMcLendon’s sometimes stocks them.

AnonymousInactiveI got mine at Swanson’s Nursery. You probably know this, but there are different sizes. Both the diameter of the flower head and the height/width of the mature plant. So be sure and read the card to get what you want. I’ve even seen a trailing variety that I want. They grow quite fast, so I purchased the least expensive pot size.

TheVelvetBulldogMemberWhat is this “buy” you speak of? Euphorbias spread like mad – if you see one you like, I’ll bet that if you left a note with the owner, they’d be happy to give you some of theirs. I also know for a fact that “Shibaguyz” are digging out a bunch of euphorbia – I’ve got dibs on some, but I’m sure there’s enough to share!!

seattletimMemberI have bought mine at West Seattle Nursery. Just tell them what you want and they will order if for you – that are very good that way.
Another great place to buy plants in WS is the gardening store at the South Seattle Community College campus. They are freindly, knowledgible and have a ton of stuff at reasonable prices.
I hope that helps.

JeraldParticipantAccording to WSB’s Events page, the SSCC Garden Center is having its spring sale on May 8 & 10, 11:00-4:00. A friend mentioned this to me today too, although I can’t find any more information online.
BTW, I keep reading the heading on this as “Where Can I Find Euphoria” and I ponder the possible answers.

MrsLoblawMemberThank you all for so much helpful info. Jerald: Euphoria — ha! Getting an answer to a mundane question from so many great folks is euphoria enough (OK: I’ll also take +20 degrees on the darn temp. guage, too)!

WSBKeymasterIf you find yourself a little further south, in addition to the fine nurseries of West Seattle – WS Nursery and Village Green Perennial Nursery – Furney’s in Des Moines has a wide selection.
Re: the SSCC plant sale, here is the entirety of the announcement I received from the college. I try not to clutter up the events page with long blurbs but when there’s not an accompanying web link (SSCC is working on its website … we are now on its Publications Board and recently heard that), maybe I should.
>>They’re coming…………the Plant Sales at South Seattle Community College Garden Center
Shrubs, small trees, grasses, unusual perennials and more! Many plants are grown by students in the SSCC
Landscape Horticulture Program. Buy locally at great prices while you support community education. While there,
you can also visit the neighboring Arboretum, Coenosium Rock Garden, and view construction progress on the
Seattle Chinese Garden.
Sales dates/times:
Thursday and Saturday May 8th & 10th 11am-4pm
Thursday and Saturday June 5th & 7th 11am-4pm
How to get there: SSCC 6000 16th Ave SW, Seattle 98107. Go to the north entrance of the campus, pass the Arboretum, take a left into the Landscape Horticulture(LHO) building parking lot. Bus lines Metro 125 from Downtown Seattle or Metro 128 from West Seattle. <<

cjboffoliParticipantAs much as I’d prefer to support a West Seattle business first, I can’t say I’ve had very good luck with many of the plant purchases I’ve made at the West Seattle Nursery. The quality of the stuff at Swanson’s (in Ballard/Crown Hill) is much better. Or if you’re up for more of an outing, try Flower World in Maltby (www.flowerworldusa.com/) That place is great.
April 29, 2008 at 10:05 pm #623154
AnonymousInactivecjboffoli, that’s been my experience as well. Quite pricey, and I’ve had a lot of sad plant deaths. At 50-60 a pop for small shrubs, I just can’t afford that (the price or the dying). Same thing at Molbaks. Thought it was me until I switched to Swanson’s. Everything from there has really thrived. And I second flower world. Good choice too.

JoBParticipanti can feel a plant nursery road trip coming on:)
April 30, 2008 at 4:32 am #623156
cjboffoliParticipantFlower World is a bit of a drive. But if you’re a gardener it is kind of a fun place. It is huge.

JeraldParticipantWe always plan on breakfast or lunch at the Maltby Cafe on the way. Oh yeah, I think we’re due for a trip that direction asap.
