WSSpartanParticipantWhere can I look to find out where all the different neighborhoods in West Seattle are located? I keep reading about Fauntlee Hills and others and I have no idea where any of them are.

The Velvet BulldogParticipantHere’s a very general one: http://clerk.ci.seattle.wa.us/~public/nmaps/html/NN-1500S.htm
I did a “map of west seattle” Google search and looked at the images. Some have more detailed neighborhood info than others, but none of them showed all the neighborhoods. I too, would like to know where “Fauntlee Hills” is located.

JanSParticipantFauntlee Hills is the little community directly east of the Fauntleroy Ferry terminal, according to Google…

tom kelleyParticipantOne of the local realtors described my neighborhood, Gatewood Hill,as,”tony upper Lincoln Park Beach”. Good luck finding that neighborhood on a map. Also, I no I can speak for my neighbors when I say, “We ain’t tony”.

DianeParticipantwow, based on that city map, West Seattle is defined as only the areas west of 35th? what about the rest of West Seattle?

WSBKeymasterWe’ve had this discussion 6 million times (and yet I cannot find a link, my apologies). I need to just put up a page one of these days. The city maps are completely unrelated to which neighborhoods actually exist and where. Also, regarding the “West Seattle is west of 35th,” that’s because much of the city consideration is based on the fact that the city splits the peninsula into the “West Seattle” and “Delridge” districts, at least for the district-council purposes. We here cover ALL of West Seattle as ONE peninsula with a long list of neighborhoods. They include:
Admiral
Alki
Upper Alki
Beach Drive
Charlestown Hill
Genesee Hill
Luna Park
North Delridge
South Delridge
Highland Park
Gatewood
Fauntleroy
Upper Fauntleroy
Brace Point
Arbor Heights
Westwood
Fairmount Springs
Seaview
The Junction
The Triangle
Morgan Junction
Hansen View
Puget Ridge
Sunrise Heights
and I know I am missing some but gotta get back to a story

DianeParticipantthanks TR

WSSpartan; love your question; I’ve been here 11 yrs and still don’t know all of these listed; never heard of Hansen View, and not sure where some on this list are located; seems that every realtor in WS would want to have a map with these designations, and with borders for school districts, which is huge selling point for young families

nighthawkParticipantAccording to the city map, my neighborhood is Riverview, although I have never heard/read reference to it anywhere else. I did find an old defunct webpage at one time there was a Riverview neighborhood group but it was long ago.

Genesee HillParticipantOh, please do not forget Kootchman Desert. It is within 100 yards of where the K-man lives. ROFL…..

Genesee HillParticipantAnd with that comment, WSB, please kick me off this site forever.

BonnieParticipantI live in Fauntlee Hills! I’m not sure of the exact lines but I’d say 38th/39th/Barton to the south, maybe to Trenton to the north, down to 45th or so to the west. Kind of in that area.

datamuseParticipantI know where Riverview is because of Riverview Playfield.
Nobody outside of West Seattle knows where Highland Park is. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had this conversation:
“So where in West Seattle do you live?”
“Highland Park.”
“Oh, I don’t know where that is.”
“It’s north of White Center.”
“Oh…”
*LOOOOOOOOONG pause*
“…is it safe?”
:D

smokeycretin9ParticipantAnd where is NoRox on this list?

PibalParticipantIn an attempt to class things up a bit, my wife and her close friend have begun addressing each other as “Princess of Arbor on High” and “Lady of the Gate on Wood.”
Yes, the wine was quite inexpensive…

nighthawkParticipantI have to say that I laugh at the name Riverview because there isn’t much view of the river for the trees :)
September 17, 2011 at 2:38 pm #734588
anonymeParticipantPigeon Point.
September 18, 2011 at 3:26 am #734589
MrsLMemberThere’s also my neighborhood, High Point. Here’s the map from the city page of the rest of West Seattle (i.e. west of 35th).
