A census worker came to my door today The main reason I sent in a form was because they said someone would come calling if you did not. Anyway he had all his ids and stuff and I had seen him around before. But he wanted my phone number because he was having trouble getting in touch with a neighbor. What??? I said no way and that was a weird request or something like that. He just replied he was doing what he was told. Was I sure I did not want to give him my number? I found it a very weird request but was not in the humor to get clarification on how they wanted to use my number. Any similar experience out there?

This past week I received in the mail an official looking envelope from the U.S. Cenus Bureau stating if I just filled out the enclosed form I could win a trip. Right! Already sent in our form weeks ago, this was deposited in the recycle.

I am an enumerator for the census here in WS and yes we do ask for phone numbers. I have asked people for information about their neighbors because I was unable to contact them. And if you do give us the needed information, we do need to have a record of who we got in from, including an address and phone number.

If you have any questions about anyone who has come to your door and anything you’ve received in the mail, go to census.gov and direct your question to your local office.
