I’m looking for some places to donate toys for kids’ Christmas gifts. Anyone have some recommendations of worthy causes?

Toys for Tots is a good place. You can give your donations to the Fire Department through the 18th.

Also call WestSide Baby and West Seattle Helpline.

When we were at WS Baby recently, director Nancy told us one thing they really needed was board books for babies/toddlers – those “fly out the door.”

Don’t forget the benefit tomorrow. There are a lot of kids in need in our own community. Bring them to Big Al’s Brewery at 3pm on Sunday the 14th and we’ll do the rest. The bonus is that you can stay and have a beer and chat with your neighbors. There will also be appetizers and desserts. :)

McClendon is also taking new unwrapped toys until the 17th(?). I heard last weekend that Toys for Tots delayed their deliveries because they only had 5,000 of the usual 50,000 at that time. Presumably, the extra press may be helping, but they’re definitely behind. McClendons are doing a “drive” today with some media, but I found a couple of items that I plan to drop off tomorrow before the Holiday Get-together.

I’ll have to find a PR contact for T-for-T because they should have neighborhood news sites like ours on their media list- we would have been happy to provide an extra plug, as would our pals at MyBallard.com, CapitolHillSeattle.com, BeaconHillBlog.com and half a dozen other news sites that together reach more than 100K people around the area, in a more personal and grabbier way than an offhand PSA on TV or radio. I’ll see if I can find info to add to the Holidays page.

Pretty sure I saw the story on tv, but here’s The Times:

Any fire station will accept donations for the Toys for Tots. I have dropped off several things over the last week for the TFT.
