TanDLParticipantDriving East on Oregon this afternoon, I came to a sudden unexpected stop, finding myself in a line of snarled traffic, trying to cross California Ave. I couldn’t figure out what the problem was as traffic backed up behind a Metro bus, further and further down Oregon. Maybe the bus broke down – maybe there was a problem with the light on California & Oregon – maybe someone was having a problem in the crosswalk. Nope! When the bus was finally able to turn right (South) onto California, I saw a new bus stop, right next to the Chase (formerly WA Mu) Bank, on Oregon. No place for the bus to pull over to pick up passengers and no way for traffic to move when the left turn lane is packed because of oncoming Westbound traffic… Seriously, Metro?
I don’t even have the words to express my thoughts and feelings about this. Actually, I do but I know I’d be censored, and rightfully so!

miwsParticipantThat’s actually been there for awhile.
It apparently replaced the stop that was northbound on California, in front of Keller-Williams Realty, and Shadowland.
I s’pose Metro, thought having the stop on Oregon, was the lesser of two evils, as there was not enough room after the left turn, for the bus to pull completely to the curb, and especially with the articulated coaches, the tail end would stick out well into the traffic lane.

TanDLParticipantGeez, I hadn’t noticed until today. Guess I’m usually focused on the traffic and don’t drive that way much. I was surprised. Thanks Mike.

JanSParticipantyeah, it’s been there quite some time…at least 2 years or so. I totally understand, though. I’m constantly discovering new buildings, etc, that seem to spring up in days, and then I remember how long it’s been since I was in that area…it’s a constant “Damn, when did that happen?” – lol
