I would love some advice on the best avenues for posting a pet for adoption. We have two beautiful guinea pigs that need a forever home. My first route was to post to families at my child’s school. This resulted in several nibbles but no bites. I am petrified of posting on Craigslist and I have similar fears about posting directly to here. I keep hearing horror stories of people adopting and then feeding small animals to snakes and such…

Do you think this is a safe enough venue? Do you have tips for Craigslist? Have experience with petfinder? Any help you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks!

I will not bother asking why you have to rehome them, but you are right craig’s list is a horrible place to post this.

Take them to Seattle animal control. They really do have good success on adopting out small rodents.

Petfinder you have to be a “rescue” blah blah fill out paperwork ect.

We second the Seattle Animal Shelter suggestion. They have an excellent small animal program. Rob, the leader of this program, knows how to find really good homes for these little ones and they have a good screening process.

The Shelter’s phone number is 206-386-PETS. Their website is http://www.seattle.gov/animalshelter/
