CountingCoupMemberI wonder if there was any sleeping last night for either of the vice presidential candidates? I’m sure if there was, “Ambien” was involved :-)
My take on tonight debate is that the bar will be lowered in that the questions will simple and generalized.
I expect alot of “skimming the surface” answers from Sarah Palin, stated with all the charm, wit and smiles that can be mustered to cover for lack of experience and knowledge.
I expect Jo Biden will be very very careful on his demeanor, and may look passive while trying to inject as much information as possible with his level of experience and knowledge. I hope he just targets McCain and gets pointed like he is so good at doing.
I don’t have any expectations that tonight will be anywhere near the level it should be for a Vice Presidential debate unfortunately.
We will be left with fluffy answers with the expectation to make our own decisions about it by reading in-between the lines.
Well either way, its going to be interesting entertainment :-)

AnonymousInactiveDon’t you think the lowered expectations are intentional? Right now, all she has to do is not make any serious blunder and all the republicans will be delirious with admiration again. And how hard is it to cram for a test? She hasn’t been doing much else with her time.

CountingCoupMemberYes I do believe the lowered expectations are intentional.
The news media’s have been stating she has been working on the debate for a couple weeks, in fact she is in a debate camp now from doing so badly in a few mock debates…

villagegreenMemberYeah, I’m thinking tonight’s debate won’t be nearly as interesting/funny as some people are expecting it to be. Palin will have her memorized answers, so things won’t get out of hand like they did with Katie Couric.
Biden just needs to stick to his agenda (while also attacking McCain) and pretty much ignore the fact that Palin is even there. The people that love her will continue to love her, but as long as Biden expresses his and Obama’s position on the issues well, he’ll easily win the debate.
The only diaster will be if he starts getting into it with Palin and he comes off as a bully/d*ck.

CountingCoupMemberI’m not sure how funny it will be at the moment, but as soon as Tina Fey mimics per batim on SNL, it will be hilarious.
In fact as soon as I see Palin I am reminded of Tina Fey. That by itself will put a smile on my face.
October 2, 2008 at 9:59 pm #641777
AnonymousInactiveCC, I have the same reaction, which is almost paradoxical. I love Tina Fey, so I don’t find watching Palin offensive in the least. Her politics, however, quite offensive.

hopeyParticipantCountingCoup, when you are writing a post to start a new thread, please notice the drop-down menu box next to “Pick a section”, just above the “Send Post” button. This is where you choose which Forum your post will go in. The default is Reader Recommendations. Post such as these belong in 2008 Elections.
I’ve seen you create new threads in the wrong forum more than once, which is the only reason I’m calling it to your attention. Unfortunately the only person who can move posts between the different forums is the “keymaster”, aka lowmanbeach.
Thanks in advance for taking care of this the next time you begin a new thread… not everyone wants to read debates & commentary about the elections.

CountingCoupMemberSorry Hopey,
I will try to remember that next time, but I see many political posts in the open forum. But I understand you would rather not see them unless you select to do so.

charlabobParticipantThis is pathetic — if it results in anything other than a sinking in the McCain-Palin poll numbers we are screwed.
I’m watching on BBC Amwrica – simply because I want to see the European view.
Biden has facts – Palin has retired beauty queen crap.
