as for transparency, i have always thought that was an illusion…

i don’t expect health care reform to do what it needs to do.. but i am still writing my representatives and senators regularly to let them know that i support key provisions that do provide options that can eventually lead to real reform.

    after all..

    congress passes the bills..

    the president signs them.

i am currently harassing them about maintaining key provisions of the Clean Air Act too.

i remember breathing that muck.. and we had relatively clean air in the NW.

Obama has done one thing right.. he has set the tone that might make individual political activists believe that they have a remote chance of being heard.

    Talk about change.

i have to admit.. it’s weird getting email from my president…

but.. he’s pitching the current consensus on health care reform tonight at 8 EST… and we will supposedly be getting a couple of needed reforms…

    we will see..

Good for you JoB on your emails.

My statements hold water. FDR in his early years had favorable congressional numbers also. New Deal programs and massive growth of Government. Obama has the same for now.

So far this is not the Depression Thank God!!!. We are not even close to those numbers in most areas. His use of the Depression is to scare people and to avoid the Carter years and the malaise of the 70’s. Very sneaky.

    HMC Rich…

i have to confess i hadn’t seen that particular rating and i am too tired today to slog through the individual issues they tracked to see how it plays out…

but in 2007, Barak Obama was trying to secure his nomination for the democratic party against Hillary Clinton and courting the progressive vote… so a high progressive rating that year isn’t that surprising… especially since they didn’t alter their ratings for lack of a vote on some of their key issues… unless the candidate didn’t vote more than 33% of the time.

i don’t think his stats looked that good before then.. but you have to subscribe to find out what the earlier stats for this journal look like.. and i am not going to bother.

however media matters did visit this issue…

    left of right is liberal..

not progressive no matter how you label it.

and progressive isn’t socialist or communist either…

    but why quibble?
