Just got home after witnessing (sort of) a mortorcycle accident under the WS bridge. I was turning right onto Harbor Avenue…someone turning left from Harbor Avenue onto the Spokane St. onramp heading east hit a guy on a cycle. At first, with the sound of metal, I thought the woman turned the corner too sharply and hit a metal sign. But it was a guy on a cycle.

I asked my sister to call 911 which she did and although there was some confusion at first about where exactly I was, the medics were there w/i 5 minutes or less.

Good news, the guy sat up for a minute, then lay back down after shouting something at the driver. I think he either crawled or was thrown onto the side of the road.

Hope he is okay…please be very, very careful out there…and look both ways…before you turn.

    Just got back from there.

The motorcycle got the worst of it. Per police on the scene – rider was taken away for treatment of cuts, scrapes, and bruises. Traffic was slow going north on Harbor, but traffic was routed around the accident scene while the ambulance and police were there.

    Sleep is overrated.

BTW – the police were still figuring out the cause of the accident while I was there.

Yes, it’s warm so there’s more motorcycles on the road than usual–keep an eye out for them! Plus some of the riders haven’t ridden all winter and their avoidance skills might be a little rusty. Glad this guy is ok. I always ask, as a rider myself, what kind of bike was it and what kind of gear was the rider wearing? Bright? Boots? Just interesting to know after hearing that the rider only had scrapes.

I don’t know what the rider was wearing as he was gone by the time I got there. The cycle was one of those low-slung types. Are those what you call a ninja cycle? You know like the one The Bride rode in Tokyo in Kill Bill.

Sorry I know nothing about anything motorized.

Sorry to be so talky tonight…you are so right Patrick about pointing out that police are still trying to figure things out…as I told them…I only saw a portion of what happened…didn’t see the actual impact or where cycle was before.
