The Kenney has added resources and renewed its commitment to establishing an environment that provides our residents enhanced quality of life through the promotion of hope, dignity, and purposeful living.We are currently seeking a Memory Care Activity Assistant!
Do you like variety? If you have a passion for helping the elderly, enjoy caring for others, and genuinely want to make a difference in the lives of people, we want to hear from you! The Activity Assistant’s role is to work with our Memory Care residents to facilitate all aspects of scheduled calendar activities on a timely basis, including documentation. Knowledge of and experience with dementia is essential. Other duties include decorating for holidays and parties, escorting on trips, maintaining Memory Care program supplies, assist with passing nourishments and completing purposeful one on one time with residents. It’s a little different with COVID precautions right now, but your job is the same—to lead elderly residents through their days with joy, respect, honor, dignity and compassion. Teamwork is critical, as you will work closely with care staff and other departments to ensure smooth transitions between all daily activities. This job is a fun one—you have an opportunity to share personal hobbies such as crafts, art, music, singing, gardening, cooking, exercise, current events and more!

Full Time — 37.5 Hrs/Wk
(Monday-Friday with some weekend availability)

Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Dependable with good work record
• Excellent Interpersonal Skills
• Experience working with Alzheimer’s Disease or related Dementia’s in a recreational setting preferredKey Responsibilities:
• Lead Group Connections program activities and one-on-ones
• Teach and lead exercise classes at the Memory Care level
• Assist in developing appropriate activities for residents participation
• Visit residents on a one-to-one basis for the purpose of providing the following interaction with residents: Sensory stimulation, Individual instruction on purposeful leisure pursuits, and to meet individual needs as outlined on the care plan.
• Facilitate video calls (Zoom, Skype, etc) and virtual doctor appointmentsExperience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• The ideal candidate will have experience creating and implementing activities and recreation opportunities for senior adults such as crafts
• Previous experience with Memory Impairments in a recreational setting
• Experience in the long-term care or health care industry desirable
