JoBParticipantif you happen to be a plus size man or woman and were considering cleaning out your closet…
Nickelsville would really appreciate your gently used clothing
and those things you thought would fit, but didn’t.
There are new plus sized people at Nickelsville and very little clothing available for them…
women’s plus sizes 1X, 2X and 3X are needed right now…
especially underclothing
They currently have several plus sized women who came into camp with little more than the clothing on their backs…
Men’s 1X, 2X, 3x and 4x and anything tall are also needed.
you can donate by taking your donation to the donor’s gate on the east side of the parking lot on the SE corner of Highland Park Way and Marginal Way…
if you are mobility impaired, you can call the posted security desk number or even honk your horn… it’s likely someone will quickly show up to check on you and carry your donations into the camp.
or.. you can contact me at joanne@brayden.org and i will try to arrange to have your donation picked up.

JoBParticipantbump again
gray days are a good time to get what you no longer wear out of your closet and into someone else’s…

SueParticipantThanks for letting us know about this, Joanne. My husband and I had donated a ton of plus size stuff a few months ago, but I guess they went through it all. I was able to pick up two big bags of plus size clothing at the WSPC rummage sale really inexpensively and brought it over today, along with some canned goods. Safeway is having some really good sales on chili and tuna right now if anyone else is so inclined.

JoBParticipantThanks Sue…
some days it seems like we give and give and it is never enough..
but unless you spend time in Nickelsville..
you can’t realize how many people we help.
The population in camp has held pretty much steady between 75 and 150 depending upon the weather and the availability of other resources..
but i couldn’t even begin to count the number of people served by Nickeslville in any one month.
I make it a habit to stick my hand out and introduce myself to new faces at Nickelsville
There are some people i see only once.
there are some that i hear about and never see
and there are old friends who have been there since the day i walked into camp
Every week someone walks into Nickelsville with no more than the clothing on their back.
Your donations shelter them, clothe them and feed them.
Your visits offer them hope.
Often that hope is all that keeps them there long enough to connect with the resources that will help them get out and back into society.
In spite of my commitment to Nickelsville
i can still be objective about the encampment.
but i am no longer able to be objective about the vast amount of unmet need.
I have met too many people who walked into camp with nothing but the clothing on their back and little or no hope that they could recover from the circumstances that dumped them there.
everything we do helps.
