Does anyone know when the new LA Fitness is going to open? They have a sign that they are taking early memberships, but on the LA Fitness website it doesn’t even show up on their list of “Presale Clubs”.

I had heard they were selling memberships already at the downtown (2nd/Columbia) location. Perhaps they have more info.

They’re saying end of March. I just signed up via the Ballard location; they had a one-day sale with no initiation fee. I’m working out in Burien (and sometimes Ballard) until it opens.

2d&Columbia is closed. Is there a new one opening in WS?

JKB, didn’t realize they closed that location. Guess I need to look up at the world around me when I’m on the bus. :)

The new LA Fitness will be in the new building at the corner of Alaska & Fauntleroy (the corner formerly known as The Hole).

Wonder if I can get my membership just suspended? I have it from when 2d&Columbia was VisionQuest. And only just discovered the closure the other day myself, because I haven’t been going. Bad me. The othe LA locations aren’t exactly convenient, but Junction would be great.

they’re making robocalls for memberships…I got one yesterday…not impressed, since I’m on the do not call registry

Sue, I’m even more behind/unobservant; didn’t know VisionQuest had changed into an LA Fitness; previous to all the bus cuts, I used the 2nd/Columbia bus stop a lot; ever since the overcrowded buses, even at night, I have to go up to 3rd/Pike in order to be assured a seat on the bus; by the time RR gets to 2nd/Columbia, I can barely see out the windows of the overcrowded bus, even at 10 – 11pm; so I also had not noticed any changes at VisionQuest; if LA Fitness is a fast growing biz, which it seems to be, why would it have closed already at 2nd/Columbia; that gym seems like ideal location for the ever growing downtown residents; if anyone has more info on that location, would love to hear it

I never receive robocalls; well, except some during election season; what was the offer in the call?

2d/Columbia keeps being a gym, but also keeps changing hands. Before VQ it was the Vault, and at least one more before that.

The construction site behind Trader Joe’s does have an LA Fitness ‘coming soon’ banner.

it was more informational than “here’s an offer you can’t refuse”…just stating that they are taking pre-applications, etc…I haven’t been in a gym in years, and my landline phone number has recently changed, so maybe targeting the previous owner of number? Or just being annoying. I don’t need for any business to call and “remind” me that they’re opening soon. Driving north on Fauntleroy approaching Alaska the other day, a way I don’t usually go, I was struck by the sheer size of the wall on the side of that bldg. on the Alaska side going around to 39th. And I tried to imagine the behemoth that will be on the opposite corner, and it really hit me how closed in and dark, cavelike that intersection will be when the Whitaker will be done.

JKB; I’ve known about LA Fitness going into the Hole since it was announced long long time ago; the LA Fitness banner has been up on the project for weeks; did not know about LA Fitness at 2nd/Columbia

yep Jan; since I go to all the design reviews in WS, not surprised at all; Alaska (from Fauntleroy to the junction) will be full canyon of 7-8 story ginormous buildings when all done; the Equity at the junction and the nearly complete project at the Hole, finally showing the scale of all that will be in this area within 2 yrs

A new building is proposed for 2nd and Columbia, although I don’t know if that is the reason why LA Fitness vacated.

Based on a quick observation as my bus was passing the WS location, the crew will need to work quickly if they want to open at the end of March.

Funny they are robocalling when they’ve refused to answer inquiries lo these many months, and one mention here “we’re opening in (whenever)” would have reached more people than an expensive series of annoying phone calls.

Anyway, the LA Fitness plan for Spruce at Fauntleroy/Alaska has been public for more than two years.

‘We’re really happy to get ‘The Hole’ filled’: New owner’s team discusses Spruce West Seattle at first public review

I’d have expected to see Spruce itself in pre-leasing by now (200+ apartments) but the placeholder website they’ve had up for a long time, with deliberately erroneous addresses/phone numbers, hasn’t been changed.
